    摘要: A fluid flow conditioning apparatus having a plurality of flexible microstructures that reduce flow losses within a conduit. The plurality of microstructures is affixed to an insertion plate-type flow conditioner. One or more ends of the microstructures are secured to internal walls of the flow conditioner. The microstructures are configured to move and flex in response to static and dynamic pressure exerted onto the microstructures by the fluid flow. The microstructures may be made of a hyperelastic material configured to undergo an elastic deformation due to the dynamic pressure of the fluid flow.

    摘要: The invention describes a total isolation diverter valve comprising a valve body whereon a main inlet conduit for inletting a fluid, a first outlet conduit for outletting the fluid and at least one second outlet conduit for outletting the fluid are obtained. The first outlet conduit for outletting the fluid is provided with a first fluid adhesion inner surface and the second fluid outlet conduit is provided with a second fluid adhesion inner surface. Between the main fluid inlet conduit and the two fluid outlet conduits a connection channel is interposed. On the connection channel at least one device for perturbing at least one of the first fluid adhesion inner surface and the second fluid adhesion inner surface is provided. The perturbation device is configured so as to cause a deviation of the fluid flow from the first fluid outlet conduit to the second fluid outlet conduit or vice-versa by exploiting a physical effect called Coand{hacek over (a)} effect. The perturbation device comprises at least one perturbation orifice, which faces the first fluid adhesion inner surface, and at least one opening/closing element, configured for opening and sealingly closing a respective perturbation orifice.

    摘要: A phononic material and a method of using a phononic material for use in interacting with a fluid or solid flow are provided. The phononic material includes an interface surface and a subsurface feature. The interface surface is adapted to move in response to a pressure, and/or velocity gradients, associated with complex motion of a turbulent flow exhibiting a polarity of frequencies exerted on the interface surface. The subsurface feature extends from the interface surface. The subsurface feature comprises a phononic crystal or locally resonant metamaterial adapted to receive the pressure, and/or velocity gradients, from the turbulent flow via the interface surface and alter the phase and amplitude of a polarity of frequency components of the turbulent flow in order to reduce or increase the kinetic energy of the turbulent flow. The interface surface is adapted to vibrate at a polarity of frequencies, phases and amplitudes in response to the frequency, phase and amplitude of at least one component of the turbulent flow.
