    Abstract: There is provided a fastener for forming lap-type joints wherein a sheet metal plate has a plurality of teeth projecting in a substantially perpendicular direction from both sides of the plate. On one side of the plate the teeth are in rows of single teeth and on the opposite side of the plate the teeth are in rows of pairs of teeth. The ends of the single teeth are such that upon movement into a nailable member the teeth remain substantially perpendicular to the plate, while the ends of the paired teeth upon movement into a nailable surface are displaceable from the perpendicular direction and accomplishing a clenching between adjacent paired teeth. The paired teeth are of smaller cross-sectional area than the single teeth and may be placed into relatively fragile or thin material to provide secure fastening thereof to a more substantial material, e.g. wooden studs and the like.

    Abstract: An inductive proximity switch comprises a high-frequency oscillator, an oscillator coil and an oscillator core. An analyzing circuit detects the inclination amplitude depending on the degree of core saturation. The analyzing circuit triggers a switching process when a certain threshold value of amplitude is reached. The core consists, for example, of ferrite. A yoke-like body is assigned to the core. The use of such a soft-magnetic material for the yoke-like body, allows the construction of smaller sensors with a higher sensitivity and a more cost-advantageous production. Their permeability curve in relation with one quadrant of the coordinate system is clearaly S-shaped.

    Abstract: A connector strip (10) is provided for securing fabric, such as shade cloth (16), to a frame member (17). The connector strip (10) has nailing apertures (12) at intervals therealong and it is provided with longitudinally spaced elongate projections or barbs (13) struck therefrom and adapted for passage through the fabric to be secured by the connector strip (10) to the frame member (17). The barbs (13) are struck from transverse portions of the strip (10) so as to form respective barb face portions (29) extending substantially longitudinally along the strip (10). These face portions (29) bear against fabric retained thereby and tensioned transversely to the strip (10).

    Abstract: Discrete structural construction units comprising porous sacks containing a dry premixed fill of aggregate, sand and cement are arranged in juxtaposed relation to form a horizontal course of a wall, and water is applied to the units to activate the fill therein to form an integrated structure. Successive courses of the structural units are superimposed on each other, including wetting the units in the courses, to form a completed, integrated structural wall. A building structure is constructed by excavating suitable trenches for the foundation, filling the trenches to ground level with concrete to form foundation beams, arranging at least one course of the structural units on the outer foundation beams, including wetting the units of this course to set up, pouring a concrete slab floor within the confines of the outer foundation beam using the course of structural units as a form, laying successive courses to complete the structural walls of the building, blowing a concrete skin on the surfaces of the wall, and adding a roof thereto.
