    摘要: A method of fusing thermoplastics components (12, 14) together comprises positioning an electrically conductive member (20) between opposing surfaces (16, 18) of two thermoplastic components to be fused together. The electrically conductive member comprises one or more perforations or spaces between solid material of the member. An electric current is caused to flow in the member so as to heat the member and melt at least some plastics material adjacent the opposing surfaces. The melted plastics material penetrates the perforations or spaces in the electrically conductive member, whereby melted plastics material from each component mixes so as to fuse the components.

    摘要: Systems and methods consistent with the present invention provide a thermoplastic resin-laminated structure having an exterior layer, a base layer, and a binding layer that is placed between the exterior layer and the base layer. The exterior, base and binding layers include at least one material selected from a group consisting of electric resistance-heat generating materials and heat-conductive materials, and has at least one connection terminal at a certain region for supplying at least one of electricity or heat. The resin-laminated structure has excellent properties such as adhesive strength between a base layer and an exterior layer, and recycling utility as well as surface quality in feeling, thermal durability, acoustic absorptivity, heat-shielding property, and impulse-durability. Therefore, it can be used for interior automotive trims, acoustic absorptive members, heat-insulating members, lagging members, protective coating members, anti-vibration members, and sound-blocking members for civil engineering and construction, anti-vibration and sound-blocking members for sewage and water pipe, soundproofing members for hot-water “ondol”, plastic furniture, various multi-layer mats, handles, sofas, chairs, various toys, middle soles of shoes, and golf bags. A method for preparing the resin-laminated structure is also provided.

    摘要: A method and apparatus are disclosed for a thermoplastic profile wall pipe joint or weld assembly without the use of a coupler to provide for a leak free pipe joint with substantially flush interior and exterior surfaces. The pipe joint consists of configuring the two pipe ends to be joined by removing substantially all of a first wall and the helical rib from the first pipe end, removing a portion of the helical rib from the second pipe end, coupling the pipe ends together and heating the weld assembly couple to fusion weld the pipe ends together. An electrical resistance element is provided for and placed within the pipe joint to provide the required heat. Also disclosed is the use of a thermoplastic sheet with the electrical resistance element to allow the end margins of the electrical resistance element to overlap without shorting by separating the end margins radially from one another and to allow for a more uniform fusion welded pipe joint. The resulting joint is a leak free joint with no interior flow obstructions or exterior collars or protrusions without the need for a coupler.
