    摘要: A four stroke internal combustion engine with dedicated exhaust gas recirculation and method of operating such engine, wherein the engine comprises a plurality of combustion cylinders including main cylinders and a dedicated exhaust gas recirculation cylinder, wherein each cylinder includes a piston; a crankshaft, which is rotatable in a direction, and defines a main crankshaft axis, and includes a plurality of crankpins. Each of the crankpins is coupled to at least one of the pistons. The crankpins affixed to the pistons of the main cylinders are spaced at an interval around the main crankshaft axis. The crankpin affixed to the piston of the dedicated exhaust gas recirculation cylinder is spaced at an offset of 5 to 50 degrees from the interval in either direction relative to the direction of crankshaft rotation.

    摘要: A load due to combustion pressure is applied to each of the crank pins via a connecting rod in a direction from the axis of a piston pin to the axis of the crank pin. Each of the crank arms includes a recess in a surface adjacent to the journal, in a region inward of a peripheral region along the edge of the surface. The recess extends along the peripheral region, and is asymmetric with respect to a crank arm centerline connecting the axis of each of the crank pins to the axis of each of the journals. Each of the crank arms has a maximum flexural rigidity at a point of time when the load onto each of the crank pins due to the combustion pressure reaches a maximum. The crankshaft has a reduced weight and an increased torsional rigidity in combination with an increased flexural rigidity.

    摘要: A method for producing a forged crankshaft includes a die forging step, a trimming step, and an excess projecting portion bending step. The die forging step forms a finish forged blank with flash, the finish forged blank including a shape of the crankshaft, in which crank arms have excess projecting portions at outer peripheries of side portions thereof near a crank pin, the excess projecting portions projecting from the outer peripheries. The trimming step removes the flash from the finish forged blank formed in the die forging step. The excess projecting portion bending step bends the excess projecting portions of the crank arms toward a journal-side surface of the crank arm by inserting a first die having a U-shape from a direction of eccentricity of the crank pin to the crankshaft obtained by removing the flash in the trimming step.

    摘要: A crankshaft includes a pin bearing journal, and a counterweight. The pin bearing journal defines a hollow pin core. The hollow pin core includes a first pin core section and a second pin core section, and an enlarged central section disposed between the first pin core section and the second pin core section. The first and second pin core sections each define a cross section having a first and second cross sectional area respectively, and the enlarged central section defines a third cross section defining a third cross sectional area, with the third cross sectional area larger than the first and second cross sectional areas. An isolation window extends through the counterweight. The crankshaft is cast from a high shrink steel alloy having a shrinkage factor equal to or greater than 1%. The enlarged central section and the isolation window improve the castability of the high shrink steel alloy.

This makes it possible to improve the material utilization and to use a billet having a cross-sectional size as small as possible.
