Abstract: A modular crankshaft configured for use within a power end assembly. The modular crankshaft is configured to interconnect a drive shaft and a plurality of linear drive assemblies. The various embodiments of modular crankshafts disclosed herein are assembled by interconnecting a plurality of individual main bearing journals using a plurality of fasteners. One or more embodiments of modular crankshafts may also include individual connecting rod journals that are attached to individual main bearing journals using a plurality of fasteners.

Abstract: An engine-and-electric-machine assembly, including an engine (8) and an electric machine (9). The crankshaft (7) of the engine has an extension section (7-3) that extends to the exterior of the engine, and the rotor (3) of the electric machine is mounted to the extension section. The present disclosure improves the integration level of the engine-and-electric-machine assembly, and reduces the weight and volume of the engine-and-electric-machine assembly. A vehicle driving device including the engine-and-electric-machine assembly is also disclosed.

Abstract: A biasing member assembled with a bearing and a crankshaft wherein the bearing is configured to receive the crankshaft. The crankshaft is assembled with an internal combustion engine. The biasing member biases the bearing in an axial direction relative to the crankshaft to reduce an endplay of the crankshaft while the engine is operable in a normal operating condition. The biasing member provides a resilient biasing force for biasing the bearing into engagement with a cylinder block when the crankshaft is operational to thereby eliminate or reduce the crankshaft endplay and improve the sealing performance of a crankshaft axial seal.

Abstract: A rocking journal bearing is provided in a piston coupling mechanism. The bearing includes a sleeve and a wristpin constructed with two sets of eccentrically-disposed bearing surfaces which alternate in accepting a compressive load during an operational cycle of the bearing. The sleeve includes a network of grooves to transport oil to the bearing surfaces. Lubricating oil flow through the bearing is minimized by limiting provision of pressurized oil from the wristpin to the network of grooves to portions of the cycle when one or the other of the sets of bearing surfaces receives the compressive load.
