    摘要: A continuously-variable transmission includes two transmission members each having coupling elements engageable to couple the transmission members for movement together. At least one of the transmission members is a rotary member rotatable about a rotary axis; and at least one of the groups of coupling elements is radially displaceable towards and away from the rotary axis to change the conversion ratio of the transmission. The coupling elements of one group on one transmission member are of a fixed configuration defining projections alternating with depressions each of a fixed configuration formed on a surface of the transmission member between opposite side faces and having the same pitch for every cross section of the surface perpendicular to the mentioned rotary axis. The coupling elements of the other group are of a self-adaptive configuration, each movable in opposite directions to adapt itself to the configuration of the fixed-configuration coupling elements in all displacement positions of the radially-displaceable coupling elements and to effect a non-slip coupling therewith.

    摘要: A Benesch transmission transmits power from an input shaft to an output shaft, wherein the input shaft defines a first axis and the output shaft defines a second axis, includes a first member including a contacting surface which extends along at least a portion of a circle. The first member is coupled to the input shaft such that, upon rotation of the input shaft about the first axis, the first member moves so that a central axis of the circle orbits the first axis, and wherein a distance between the central axis and the first axis is variable. A plurality of second members are coupled to the output shaft and extend away from the second axis. Each of the second members extends within the circle such that, upon motion of the first member relative to the first axis, contact between the contacting surface and the second members causes rotation of the output shaft about the second axis.

    摘要: A continuously variable gear transmission has a hemispherical drive gear providing an axially varying pitch diameter and an axially varying effective circular pitch, and a driven gear with a constant pitch diameter having teeth tapering axially in an opposite sense to the axially varying effective circular pitch of the drive gear. A pitch control drum guides teeth of the driven gear relatively around the shaft axis to continuously vary their effective circular pitch to match a circular pitch of the teeth of the drive gear for ensuring meshing engagement throughout the varying axial positions, whereby the velocity ratio of the transmission is varied continuously. The control drum has a guiding surface extending therearound with an axially tapering, conical guiding portion providing an arcuate guiding surface portion of constant transverse and continuously axially varying radius. An interconnected rod assembly links the adjacent movable teeth together for movement as a ring around the guiding surface of the drum so that the effective circular pitch of the teeth engaging the drive gear is determined by the radius of the guiding portion and so that a tooth engaging the drive gear has a constant angular velocity throughout such engagement, The shaft of the driven gear comprises a plurality of coaxial sub-shafts carrying respective individual teeth mounted coaxially with the drum. A mechanism continuously and simultaneously varies both an angle of intersection of the drive and driven gear shafts, bringing different circumferential locations of the drive gear having different pitch diameters into engagement with the driven gear, and a relative axial position of engagement of the gears, changing a circular pitch of the driven gear to match a circular pitch of the drive gear. A differential connects the selected teeth of the driven gear gear to a power output only when the teeth are at the constant angular velocity.

    摘要: A variable-speed gear mechanism comprises a pinion with spring-biased radial pins and a face gear with an operative face that meshes with the pinion at various meshing radii. The gear has a central part which defines a radially innermost set of part-cylindrical sockets. Each socket has an axial opening which faces outwardly from the gear face and a lateral opening which faces radially outwardly and through which a pin is received laterally into the socket during meshed operation. A recess extends radially outwardly and in both circumferential direction from the bottom of the lateral opening of each socket, permitting unobstructed movement of a pin to and from the socket. A circular groove may define the required recesses. Its depth at a particular radius may be sufficient to avoid contact between the pins and the face gear thereby providing a neutral function. Meshing structure at a next larger meshing radius may consist of another set of sockets with lateral openings facing radially inwardly. Radial grooves may direct a pin located in a socket of the innermost set to a corresponding socket in the other set as the pinion is moved radially to change gear ratios.
