The machine control device includes a first memory in which a control program is stored, a controller which controls operation of the mechanical device in accordance with the control program stored in the first memory, and a removable second memory in which a control program and a rewrite program are stored. The controller replaces the control program in the first memory with the control program in the second memory in accordance with the rewrite program stored in the second memory when the second memory is installed.

At least a portion of the received engine performance data are stored in a fixed memory device that is fixedly coupled to a fixed-memory mount in the engine controller, and in a removable memory device that is non-fixedly coupled to a removable memory mount in the engine controller in a manner that allows the removable memory device to be hand-removable from the removable memory mount. The removable memory device is removed from the removable memory mount in the engine controller, and inserted in a port of a computing device that is not coupled to the engine controller.

摘要： A system for increasing transaction security across existing infrastructure is provided. A user bio-metric sensor device is integrated into a credit or debit card. A display unit provides a key, preferably encrypted, upon successful utilization of the sensor device. Included in the key generation mechanism is an indicator of the transaction number or other sequential count indicative of card use. An authorization service decrypts the key in a manner at least partially dependent upon a second sequential count maintained in sync with the first count to determine whether the use is authorized. A separate reader may be similarly configured to read existing smart cards utilizing the process of the present invention.

A module or transponder is mounted to the tool and interrogated by a transceiver which, in the preferred embodiments, has read/write capabilities. The transponder uses energy from the transmitted signal to power itself and send information stored in its memory back to the transceiver. In one embodiment, electromagnetic energy is transmitted from the transceiver to the transponder while the transponder to transceiver communication link is provided by way of capacitive coupling.

摘要： A system and process for loading control software into the control panel of a liquid chiller system is provided. A PCMCIA card socket is installed on a circuit board of a liquid chiller control system and is in direct connection with microprocessor data and address buses. A linear flash PCMCIA card having new control software for the control panel is inserted into the PCMCIA card socket when the control panel is de-energized. The control software from the PCMCIA card is loaded into a flash memory of the control system by software executed directly from the PCMCIA card. The software in the PCMCIA card erases the flash memory of the control system, copies the control software from the PCMCIA card to the flash memory and then confirms that the copy of the control software was successful. After the control software has been copied, the control panel is de-energized, the PCMCIA card is removed and the chiller system is restarted and executes the new control software stored in the flash memory.

摘要： A system and process for loading control software into the control panel of a liquid chiller system is provided.
