    摘要: A hierarchical distributive control system is disclosed. The lowest level of the system is a stand alone controller with hot plug in capability, which can accept either analog or digital signals, scale these signal with input subroutines, perform any one of a number of algorithms to produce control signals or can manually produce control signals and output these control signals as either analog or digital signals to field devices. A plurality of controllers communicates with an associated condenser over duel parallel digital communication buses with a full echo, verify communication routine. The condenser contains all records for all controllers under its supervision and can download control information into any replaced controller. A subhost is interconnected to a group of condensers and contains all records contained in all condensers under its supervision. All information can be uploaded from condensers to subhost or downloaded from subhost to condenser. In case of any failure in any subsystem, all lower level systems continue to operate. All controllers are interchangeable.

    摘要: A portable control unit may be quickly coupled and decoupled from docking stations on a plurality of process system components, such as cylindrical grinding machines. The portable control unit may be used to control the process system component and receive and output data produced by the process system component. The ability to quickly couple and decouple the portable control unit may allow a single portable control unit to be used to control numerous process system components, thereby saving cost and space. Various communications interfaces and attachment mechanisms may be used to communicatively and mechanically couple the portable control unit to a docking station.

    摘要: An implement for automatically milking animals, such as cows, comprising a robotic mechanism, two computers each having a display screen and keyboard, the implement having a plurality of exchangeable parts provided with signally means to transmit information when an exchangeable part is malfunctioning, the signalling means also identifying the malfunctioning part on one of the display screens of a computer. An emergency electrical battery is provided at an individual parlor containing the implement for providing electrical power in the event of failure of the main power, a computer being provided for closing down non-vital functions in the event of such power failure or of malfunctioning of the parts or parts concerned. The set of teat cups which are automatically installed and removed from the farm animal being milked can also be individually installed manually on the animal's teats, and a second set of teat cups for similar manual installation and removal is also provided, including conduits for pulsating the teat cups connected to a vacuum source, and for conveying milk received in the teat cups to a receptacle.

    摘要: A system for providing notification, to the associated operating system, of removal and replacement of I/O devices during operation of a multiprocessor computer system running multiple operating systems. The system includes a plurality of cells, each containing multiple RISC processors, low-level I/O firmware, a local service processor, scratch RAM, external registers, a memory and I/O manager, and interfacing hardware. Each partition comprises one or more cells and runs its own operating system (OS). Each cell is connected to a peripheral backplane containing a plurality of peripheral I/O card slots via a switch on the system backplane, which also connects the cell to a supervisory processor, which sends card slot status information to the appropriate cell. Each I/O (typically PCI) card slot has an associated latch which provides an indication, to the supervisory processor, that a platform event has occurred. Platform events include inserting or removing an I/O (peripheral device interface) card to/from a card slot, and opening an access panel that provides access to the I/O cards.
