Abstract:
A measurement control apparatus designed to automatically select an interface circuit compatible with a measurement controlled object without error. A measurement control processor outputs interface setting data for setting one interface circuit compatible with the measurement controlled object in advance of output of measurement control data to the measurement controlled object. Based on this, an interface setting means activates only that interface circuit. Further, the processor is provided with a loopback unit for returning the interface setting data to the measurement control processor and confirms the match of the output interface setting data and the returned interface setting data. Further, it is provided with an identification code setting means for setting an identification code unique to an interface board mounting the interface circuit and confirms that the interface board has been correctly selected.
Abstract:
A method of communicating digital information as a stream of binary chip values impressed on a transmitted signal during a series of discrete transmitter chip intervals. During a preamble period, the transmitter provides a predetermined transmitter clock signal having a series of different values during a series of crumb intervals, each such crumb interval being a rational fraction of one transmitter chip interval. The receiver generates plural series of receiver chip intervals offset in time from one another. During the preamble period, the receiver subdivides each chip interval of each such series into receiver crumb intervals. The receiver selects one series of receiver chip intervals for which the values of the detected signal best match a template corresponding to the transmitter clock signal. This selected series of receiver chip intervals is the series best synchronized with the transmitter chip intervals. After the preamble period, the receiver recovers the binary chip values by assigning values to successive intervals in the selected series of receiver chip intervals according to the value of the detected signal for each interval in that selected series.
Abstract:
A remote control system utilizing spread-spectrum techniques. The system is particularly suitable for control of electrical wiring devices in a building and/or appliances.
Abstract:
An HVAC system is assigned a network identification for subsequent use within a communication network upon receipt of a formatted signal containing the network identification. The HVAC system stores the network identification in nonvolatile memory. The HVAC system also preferably stores a verification image of the communicated network identification so that any reading back of the network identification can be validated through comparison with the stored verification image.
Abstract:
A stage lighting system is comprised of a plurality of lamp units which may have diverse communication protocols, functions and data parameters. The stage lighting system is controlled by a modular control system comprised of a modular controller mainframe interconnected with a plurality of control devices which may have diverse communications protocols and data formats. The modular controller mainframe consists of a plurality of input and output modules, mass storage devices and a main processor kernel, all interconnected by a number of data buses. The input modules serve as an interface between the modular controller mainframe and the diverse protocols of the various control devices. Similarly, the output modules serve as an interface between the modular controller mainframe and the diverse protocols of the various types of lamp units. The modular controller mainframe serves as an interface system by providing one or more of said input or output modules with the capability of translating parameter commands, where necessary, to accommodate control devices having diverse communications protocols and output devices having diverse communications protocols, functions and data formats. The system may also include a distributed control system for a lighting system in which two or more fully-functional control devices are online simultaneously to control any function of any of a plurality of luminaries from the control devices. Various methods for arbitrating and resolving conflicts between or among plural control consoles are also used.
Abstract:
A system for remote control of electrical components in a building or an electrical appliance provides control of electric power flow in response to spread spectrum radio signals propagated through free space within the building. The spread spectrum signal receiver may be mounted entirely within a junction box of the building wiring or entirely within an appliance housing. The transmitter need not be connected to the building or appliance electrical wiring.

Abstract:
A communication port of a concentrated controller for performing concentrated control, and a communication port of each of a plurality of operation devices having respective peculiar ID codes are connected to each other by a signal transmitting cable or the like. An ID code of an operation device intended to be accessed from the concentrated controller is transmitted, whereby each of the operation devices judges whether or not the transmitted ID code is in agreement with one's own ID code. Access is made only to the operation device when the ID code is in agreement with one's own ID code. The operation of such device is capable of being controlled by transmitted information; and such operation is preferably related to a medical environment.
Abstract:
An irrigation system for controlling a number of control valves (104) is disclosed. The valves (104) control the flow of water in a corresponding branch pipe (102) leading from a common supply pipe (101). The system uses wireless transmission of control signals to operate a control unit (115) which operates the corresponding control valve (104) from a corresponding power generator (107). The control signal is encoded by an encoder (118) according to predetermined conditions and is decoded by each of the control units (115), the coded signal being received by each control unit (115) and the specified control unit (115) operating only.
Abstract:
A hierarchical distributive control system is disclosed. The lowest level of the system is a stand alone controller with hot plug in capability, which can accept either analog or digital signals, scale these signal with input subroutines, perform any one of a number of algorithms to produce control signals or can manually produce control signals and output these control signals as either analog or digital signals to field devices. A plurality of controllers communicates with an associated condenser over duel parallel digital communication buses with a full echo, verify communication routine. The condenser contains all records for all controllers under its supervision and can download control information into any replaced controller. A subhost is interconnected to a group of condensers and contains all records contained in all condensers under its supervision. All information can be uploaded from condensers to subhost or downloaded from subhost to condenser. In case of any failure in any subsystem, all lower level systems continue to operate. All controllers are interchangeable.
