Abstract:
An isolated guitar string audio capture and visual string indication and chord-finger number overlay process and system that provides a visual way to show what strings are being pressed and played during a guitar instruction video is disclosed. The isolated guitar string audio capture and visual string indication and chord-finger number overlay process and system visibly shows the student what strings are being pressed and played in a given chord by the guitar instructor in the video, all from one camera angle.
Abstract:
According to some embodiments, a stringed musical instrument is provided. The stringed musical instrument comprises a neck portion, a body portion coupled to the neck portion, and a strap anchor system attached to the body portion comprising a strap arm and strap arm wheel.
Abstract:
A musical instrument includes: a body including a keybed having a plurality of keys, wherein activation of each key creates an electrical signal at an output, wherein said electrical signal represents a pitch associated with a musical note; an elongated neck connected to the body; and a plurality of transpose buttons located along the length of the neck, wherein the transpose buttons of the fretboard are configured to control the tuning of the keys in the keybed such that activation of each of the transpose button alters the pitch represented by the electrical signal that is output by of each of the keys.

Abstract:
A fingerboard (or fretboard) for use with a stringed instrument and light-system is disclosed and has a bottom surface adapted to mate or be attached to a neck of the instrument, and has wells extending from the bottom surface toward, but not through, a top surface. The wells are sized to receive a light-emitting device, such as LEDs, and are positioned along the fingerboard according to finger positions of the instrument. Illumination from the light-emitting devices is visible to a player of the instrument, however, when the devices are not illuminated, the fingerboard appears substantially as one made without the wells. The structure is useful for learning to play the instrument, while not appearing as a learning device.
Abstract:
A learning device assembly for a stringed instrument includes one or more light strip members, at least one light element in the one or more light strips, a connecting member electrically connected to the one or more light strip members, a controller electrically connected to the connecting member and configured to electrically drive the at least one light element in the one or more light strip members and a computing device communicatively coupled to the controller, the computing device configured to be programmed with or more music arrangements and enable the controller to illuminate one or more of the at least one light element in the one or more light strip members to enable a playing of one or more music arrangements on the stringed instrument.
Abstract:
A method includes receiving a user selection of a musical piece; providing performance cues to a user to perform musical events on a musical instrument, wherein the performance cues are synchronized to expert performance data of the musical piece; receiving audio data corresponding to musical events performed by the user on the musical instrument; detecting fundamental frequencies associated with the user-performed musical events; determining an extent to which the user-performed musical events have been correctly or incorrectly performed; providing real-time or near real-time audio feedback and/or visual feedback indicating the extent to which the user-performed musical events have been correctly or incorrectly performed; and using the expert performance data as real-time or near real-time audio and/or video feedback by controlling an output level of the expert performance data output to the user during a session.
Abstract:
An instantly playable stringed instrument having a body, neck and fret spaces is provided. The instrument includes a plurality of strings. The strings are tuned such that in combination the sound they produce is an open E minor chord. The instantly playable stringed instrument may further include a plurality of indicators, each indicator corresponding to one fret space. Each indicator indicates a minor chord to be played by depressing all the strings within the fret space the indicator is associated with. The stringed instrument may further include a minor third string that has a color identification to distinguish it from the rest of the plurality of strings. The minor third string may be depressed on an adjacent fret space thereby converting the minor chord associated with the fret space having all strings depressed to a major chord.
Abstract:
A method for electronically processing and storing musical information involves separating the musical information into a plurality of segments, each representing some portion of a measure, and assigning a sequential time dimension value to each segment. The musical information is also separated into plurality of channels, with each channel representing a sound source and having a sound dimension value assigned to it. The musical information for a given channel and segment is stored in a memory array by associating the musical information corresponding to a given channel and segment with the memory array node specified by the time dimension value and sound dimension value assigned to the given channel and segment.
Abstract:
A sight and sound instructional arrangement for use with certain musical instruments, including keyboard instruments and fretted instruments, involving the use of illumination means associated with certain keys or frets of such instruments, in conjunction with means sensitive to certain coded information and connected to turn on the illumination means upon such information being received by a binary sequential decoding system utilized herein. This arrangement is particularly suitable for use by a beginning musician inasmuch as by the use of this invention, he or she can see certain keys or frets illuminated at such time as the decoder means receives the preascertained information. One preferred embodiment of this invention involves the use of instructional tapes containing voice instruction for the beginning musician as well as coded information for causing keys or frets appropriate to the instruction to be illuminated at the proper time. Other facets of my invention include the tapes containing rhythm information such that the tones provided by the depressing of the keys is interrupted in a pre-ascertained manner, so as to provide desired rhythm patterns. Rhythm information can also be used to key percussion or drum sounds.
