Abstract: A seat adjusting device for an automobile seat (1) having an electric motor (11) for generating a drive motion, wherein the electric motor is operationally coupled to a gearbox (13) for transmitting the drive motion thereof, the gearbox having a gearbox housing (19) in which gearbox elements are disposed for a step-up or step-down transmission of the motor drive motion, by means of which electric motors of lesser technical complexity can be used than previously. To this end, the invention proposes that the gearbox (13) has detection device for detecting information about the speed of at least one of the gearbox elements or detecting a variable dependent on the speed.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention are directed to a controller that is configured to limit the rate of change of speed of a motor (e.g., the acceleration or deceleration) regardless of the operating mode of the motor (e.g., speed, torque, or power control mode). The controller can include an acceleration estimator which monitors the output speed of a motor and provides an acceleration-limited speed set point. The output of the acceleration estimator may be limited to a range of acceptable acceleration values that correspond to the required limits of acceleration and deceleration. The acceleration estimator can be configured such that it causes the speed regulator to override the torque and/or power regulators when the acceleration range is exceeded.

Abstract: A control method includes monitoring changes in torque produced by a traction motor when an excitation frequency of current supplied to the traction motor changes, determining if the torque produced by the traction motor decreases when the excitation frequency of the current supplied to the traction motor increases, and responsive to the torque produced by the traction motor decreasing when the excitation frequency increases, preventing the excitation frequency of the current supplied to the traction motor from increasing further.
