    摘要： There is provided a metal insert for a weatherstrip seal comprising: an elongate central portion having a pair of spaced-apart lateral edges and a central longitudinal axis; at least one flap extending from one of the spaced-apart lateral edges, the at least one flap being folded at an angle relative to the elongate central portion about a folding axis generally parallel to the central longitudinal axis, the at least one flap comprising a plurality of fins spaced apart to define interstitial spaces between adjacent fins, each interstitial space comprising an inner end portion located near the central longitudinal portion and a notch extending from the inner end portion towards the central longitudinal axis and beyond the folding axis. There is also provided a weatherstrip seal including the metal insert and a method for manufacturing the metal insert.

A plurality of flutes are formed into the first and second face surfaces of the core metal insert in an undulating pattern, and extend between the first and second edges such the core metal insert is corrugated. The corrugation of the core metal insert separates the first and second face surfaces by a distance greater than the original thickness of the core metal insert. A method of providing such a core metal insert also is provided.

The composition includes a polymerizable composition and a polymeric binder. The polymerizable composition includes hard and flexible polymerizable subunits in a ratio that optimizes flexibility while retaining good adhesion and plasticizer resistance. In a preferred embodiment, a polymerization initiator is also included in the composition. Optionally, a chain transfer agent may also be added to the composition. The composition is substantially plasticizer free. The methods of using the composition include incorporating the composition into a topcoat film useful for storing the topcoat composition prior to use in preparing data-carrying devices, such as cards.

    摘要： A continuous strip of sheet metal is progressively sheared with longitudinally spaced and laterally extending slits to form opposing U-shaped tabs having corresponding edge portions and successively connected by corresponding center portions of the strip. In one embodiment, the sheared strip is fed between first and second overlapping sets of power driven pinch rollers which progressively grip the edge and center portions, respectively, and the second set of pinch wheels is longitudinally offset and driven at a higher peripheral speed to produce precisely uniform expansion of the strip by deforming the U-shaped tabs into V-shaped tabs. A hot melt adhesively impregnated flexible filament is progressively attached to the expanded center portions of the strip while the strip is heated to form a continuous center connection. In another embodiment, the strip of opposing U-shaped tabs is expanded into opposing V-shaped tabs by coining or thinning a connecting center portion of the strip. The expanded strip is progressively formed into a channel which is fed into an extrusion head for reinforcing a rubber-like weatherstrip.
