摘要: An implantable pump system is provided, suitable for use as a left ventricular assist device (LVAD) system, having an implantable pump, an extracorporeal battery and a controller coupled to the implantable pump, and a programmer selectively periodically coupled to the controller to configure and adjust operating parameters of the implantable pump. The implantable pump includes a flexible membrane coupled to an actuator assembly that is magnetically engagable with electromagnetic coils, so that when the electromagnetic coils are energized, the actuator assembly causes wavelike undulations to propagate along the flexible membrane to propel blood from through the implantable pump. The controller may be programmed by a programmer to operate at frequencies and duty cycles that mimic physiologic flow rates and pulsatility while operating in an efficient manner that avoids thrombus formation, hemolysis and/or platelet activation.

摘要: Methods and apparatus for controlling operation of a mechanical circulatory support (MCS) device to facilitate recovery of native heart function in a patient within which the MCS device is implanted are provided. The method includes controlling a pump of the MCS device to operate in first mode, obtaining one or more first cardiac values associated with the patient during operation of the MCS device, determining, based at least in part, on the obtained one or more first cardiac values to transition operation of the MCS device to a second mode, and controlling the pump of the MCS device to operate in the second mode when it is determined to transition operation of the MCS device to the second mode.

摘要: A catheter pump system with a pump having a fluid displacement member in the blood flow channel, a motor and a motor controller having a pressure sensing port for connection to a control pressure source. The motor controller is arranged for causing motor speed to be increased in response to a reduction of pressure applied to the pressure sensing port and for causing motor speed to be reduced in response to an increase of pressure applied to the pressure sensing port. The motor may be a pneumatic motor for driving the pump and the motor controller may be arranged for controlling motor speed by reducing flow through a supply channel to the motor and allowing an increase of flow through the supply channel to the motor in response to control signals received via an input interface.

摘要: Described herein are pumps that linearly reciprocate to assist with circulating blood within the body of a patient. Red blood cell damage may be avoided or minimized by such linear pump movement. The linearly reciprocating movement may also generate a pulsatile pumping cycle that mimics the natural pumping cycle of the heart. The pumps may be configured to reside at various body locations. For example, the pumps may be situated within the right ventricle, the left ventricle, the ascending aorta, the descending aorta, the thoracic aorta, or the abdominal aorta. In some instances, the pump may reside outside the patient.

摘要: A method of detecting hypertension in a patient having an implantable blood pump, the method includes operating the implantable blood pump at a first pump set speed during a first period of time. A first flow rate minimum during a cardiac cycle of the patient is measured. during the first period of time. The first pump set speed is reduced by at least 200 rpm during a second period of time after the first period of time to a second pump set speed, the second period of time being less than the first period of time. A second flow rate minimum is measured during a cardiac cycle during the second period of time. If the second flow rate minimum decreases during the second period of time at the second pump set speed by more than a predetermined amount, an alert is generated indicating a presence of hypertension.

摘要: Methods and apparatuses for determining operational parameters of a blood pump comprising a rotor which transports the blood are provided. The change in the behaviour of at least one first and one second operational parameter, independently from each other, of the pump, is determined. A determination of the flow through the pump and/or the difference in pressure across the pump and/or the viscosity of the blood takes into account the determined change in behaviour of the at least two operational parameters. A modelling for a dynamic model of the known quantities may be carried out and an estimation method using a Kalman filter may be used.
