The power device includes a first coil configured to receive wireless power signals for powering the implantable medical device and processing circuitry configured to determine at least one measurable electrical characteristic in a plurality of electrical pathways in the power device including an electrical pathway to the first coil, and detect reduced performance in receiving wireless power signals based at least in part on the determined at least one measurable electrical characteristic.

摘要: Systems, devices, and methods for improving wireless power transmission are disclosed herein. A method of powering an implantable ventricular assist device with an external charging device includes receiving a signal indicative of a change in a property of a deformable coil of the resonant circuit. A performance property of the deformable coil is determined based on the signal. An adjustment to a tuning of the resonant circuit is identified based on the performance property of the deformable coil. The resonant circuit is tuned according to the adjustment to the tuning of the resonant circuit. The resonant circuit is driven to transmit power to a secondary coil electrically coupled with the implantable ventricular assist device to power the ventricular assist device.

摘要: The invention relates to an energy transfer system (300) for wireless energy transfer with a transmitter unit (100) and a receiver unit (200) separate from the transmitter unit, wherein the transmitter unit (100) has a primary coil (L1) that can be supplied with a predetermined supply voltage (Uv), and wherein the receiver unit (200) has a secondary coil (L2) to which a DC link capacitor (Cz) is connected by a rectifier (210). According to the invention, the energy transfer system (300) comprises a device (230) designed to determine a value of a DC link voltage (Uz) applied on the DC link capacitor (Cz) when the supply voltage (Uv) is applied on the primary coil (L1), and a device (240) designed to perform at least one predetermined function based on the determined value of the DC link voltage (Uz) or a variable (K) derived therefrom. The invention also relates to a receiver unit (200) configured to interact for wireless energy transfer with a transmitter unit (100) separate from the receiver unit, said transmitter unit (100) comprising a primary coil (L1) that can be supplied with a supply voltage (Uv), wherein the receiver unit (200) comprises a secondary coil (L2) to which a DC link capacitor (Cz) is connected by a rectifier (210). According to the invention, the receiver unit contains a device (230) designed to determine a value of a DC link voltage (Uz) applied on the DC link capacitor (Cz) when a supply voltage (Uv) is applied on the primary coil (L1) and a device (240) designed to perform at least one predetermined function based on the determined value of the DC link voltage (Uz) or a variable (K) derived therefrom.

According to one aspect, a method includes determining a parameter that depends on an extent to which the external coil is aligned with the internal coil, where the parameter includes at least one of an indication of an internal coil output power and power transfer efficiency and a resonant frequency of the external coil when inductively coupled to the internal coil. The method further includes indicating an extent to which the external coil is aligned with the internal coil based on the parameter.

摘要: A method of monitoring heating of a hermetic package of an implanted transcutaneous energy transfer system (TETS) coil, the method includes monitoring a power transfer between the implanted TETS coil and an external TETS coil; detecting an amount of power lost during the power transfer; determining if the amount of power lost during the power transfer is above a first predetermined threshold; if the power lost is above the first predetermined threshold, determining if a misalignment between the implanted TETS coil and the external TETS coil is greater than a predetermined distance; and if the misalignment is greater than the predetermined distance, generating an alert to align the external TETS coil with the implanted TETS coil.
