摘要: Apparatus and methods are described including a tube configured to traverse an aortic valve of a subject. A frame is disposed within at least a portion of the tube. An impeller rotates such as to pump blood from the subject's left ventricle to the subject's aorta. The impeller is disposed inside the tube such that, when the impeller and the tube are deployed inside the subject, and prior to rotation of the impeller, a radial gap between an outer edge of the impeller and an inner surface of the tube is less than 1 mm. The impeller is radially stabilized such that, during rotation of the impeller, a radial gap between the outer edge of the impeller and the inner surface of the tube is maintained. Other applications are also described.

摘要: An intravascular blood pump (1) comprises a ring seal (10) that is configured to assume a collapsed configuration and an expanded configuration and configured to contact and seal against an inner wall of the patient's blood vessel when inserted therein in the expanded configuration. A support member (12; 13) is disposed inside the ring seal (10) in order to support the ring seal (10) from the inside, wherein the support member (12; 13) is configured to collapse at least partially when a predetermined pressure difference between a proximal area and a distal area of the blood vessel acting on the ring seal (10) is exceeded.

摘要: The present invention helps in enabling cardiac recovery in patients with heart failure and for facilitating cardiac muscle regeneration by long term augmentation of the coronary perfusion pressure and thereby the coronary blood flow by using an implantable, preferably self-contained electrically operated pump which takes the oxygen rich blood from one of the chambers of the heart or a large blood vessel, that include the aorta, the subclavian artery, left atrium, one or more pulmonary veins, etc and pumps it into a singular or multitude of coronary arteries through a natural (autologous, homologous or heterologous) or synthetic ‘conduit’, a medium to long term inotropic support to the heart, through a dedicated channel to deliver inotropic and other medicines and stem cells directly into the coronary circulation, where one end of the channel typically ends outside the body and the other end rests inside the lumen of the ‘conduit’ which supplies the oxygenated blood into the coronary arteries; a central processing unit (CPU) with an integrated defibrillator to monitor and control pump speed and flow rates; an implantable power source for the pump which can be charged transcutaneously using an external wireless system (‘TET’: transcutaneous energy transfer systems), to power the pump and the CPU.

摘要: A portion of a catheter is positionable within a heart having a left atrium, an aorta, and a septum. The catheter includes an elongate body having a first portion that is configured to be positioned within a left atrium and a second portion that is distal of the first portion and configured to be positioned in the aorta when the first portion is positioned within the left atrium. Each of the first portion and the second portion defining at least one opening extending from an outer surface to an inner surface of the elongate body. An impeller is configured to effect blood flow through the elongate body from the first portion to the second portion. First, second, and third anchors secure the catheter in position within the heart.

摘要: Methods and systems are provided for the circulation of blood using a purge-free miniature pump. In one embodiment, a pump is provided that may comprise a housing including a rotor and a stator within a drive unit. In this embodiment, the pump may establish a primary blood flow through the space between the drive unit and the housing and a secondary blood flow between the rotor and stator. In another embodiment, a pump establishes a primary blood flow outside the housing and a secondary blood flow between the rotor and stator. In yet another embodiment, a method is provided for introducing the pump into the body and circulating blood using the pump.

摘要: A blood pump comprises a pump casing having a blood flow inlet and a blood flow outlet, and an impeller arranged in said pump casing and rotatably supported in the pump casing by a bearing so as to be rotatable about an axis of rotation. The impeller has blades for conveying blood from the blood flow inlet to the blood flow outlet. The bearing comprises at least one stationary bearing portion coupled to the pump casing and having a stationary bearing surface that faces radially outwards. The bearing further comprises a rotating bearing surface interacting with the stationary bearing surface to form the bearing, wherein the rotating bearing surface faces radially inwards and is formed on an exposed radially inner edge of the blades. The blades are designed to draw blood deposit on the stationary bearing surface in a radially outward direction.

摘要: A non-occluding intravascular pump comprises a shroud providing an inlet for incoming blood flow and an outlet for outgoing blood flow, wherein the shroud is a cylindrical housing; an impeller positioned within shroud, wherein a central axis of the shroud and impeller are shared; a motor coupled to the impeller, wherein the motor rotates the impeller to causes blood to be drawn through the inlet and output to the outlet, and the motor is centrally disposed and shares the central axis with the shroud and the impeller; and a plurality of pillars coupling the motor to the shroud, wherein the pillars secure the shroud in close proximity to the impeller. Various design features of the pump may be optimized to reduce hemolysis, such as, but not limited to, inlet length, impeller design, pillar angle, and outlet design.

摘要: Apparatus and methods are described including a blood pump that includes an axial shaft configured for insertion into, and rotation within, a left ventricle of a subject, and an impeller coupled to the axial shaft such that, as the axial shaft rotates, the impeller pumps blood from the left ventricle. A frame surrounds the impeller and a tip portion is coupled to a distal end of the frame. The tip portion includes a distal curved portion, which, when deployed within the left ventricle, lies in a plane, and a proximal curved portion, which, when deployed within the left ventricle, does not lie in the plane and is curved such that, following the insertion of the axial shaft into the left ventricle via an aorta of the subject, a distal end of the proximal curved portion points toward an apex of the left ventricle. Other applications are also described.
