摘要: A phase separation assembly includes a stand pipe configured to be located at a bottom of a distillation column, the stand pipe for directing a liquid phase of a hydrocarbon fluid through a bottom outlet to a heating assembly; a return conduit configured to direct heated hydrocarbon fluid from the heating assembly into the distillation column; a ring baffle configured to be located within the distillation column above the return conduit; and a horizontal plate configured to be disposed above the stand pipe. The ring baffle directs the heated hydrocarbon fluid around the inner circumferential wall of the distillation column so that vapor and liquid phases can separate. Weir features on the ring baffle can facilitate separation of vapor and liquid flows of the hydrocarbon.

摘要: A device for capturing particles includes a gas-guiding unit, a gas-guiding unit and a mist-elimination unit. The gas-guiding unit has opposing first and second ends. The mist-elimination unit is disposed at the second end. The liquid-circulation unit, disposed under the mist-elimination unit by surrounding the gas-guiding unit, includes through holes below the gas-guiding unit by a gap. A gas containing particles enters the channel via the first end and then the mist-elimination unit via the second end. While the gas flows into the channel, the liquid in the liquid-circulation unit is inhaled into the channel via the gap to form droplets containing particles. After the droplets are captured by the mist-elimination unit, the liquid formed at the mist-elimination unit flows down into the liquid-circulation unit to reform the liquid to be further inhaled back to the channel of the gas-guiding unit via the gap.

摘要: A downcomer apparatus for use in a multi-stage bubble column humidifier. The humidifier comprises at least a first, second and third stage, wherein each of said stages includes an inlet, an outlet and a chamber defined by said stage, in fluid communication with the inlet and the outlet. In the humidifier, a heated liquid fluid stream flowing downwardly exchanges mass and heat with a cooler carrier gas stream flowing upwardly through the bubble column. A bubble generator comprising a perforated plate, or sparger, passes the carrier gas, such as air, from a lower chamber to form bubbles in a fluid, such as water, forming a bath on an upper chamber. An off-set arrangement of downcomer apparatuses, wherein said apparatus comprises a funnel, a watergate, and a downcomer, is used to prevent a recirculation of humid bubbles from the upper chamber to the lower chamber, thus preventing the air stream from circumventing the bubble generator in the form of the humid bubbles. This arrangement assures the maximum possible performance of the humidifier, as the entire air stream is forced to move through the bubble column, thus maximizing the air-water surface interface for an efficient mass and heat exchange.

An apparatus 1 for removing residual monomers having a column main body and valve trays 2 having multiple gas blowout ports each having openings only in a direction perpendicular to the flow direction of the polymerization solution 4 or openings directed downward in the flow direction of the polymerization solution, which are installed in multiple stages in the column main body is used in a monomer-removing step of removing monomers in a polymerization solution 4 by bringing an organic solvent gas, such as methanol gas, into contact with a polymerization solution 4 obtained from a polymerization reactor 3.

摘要: The present invention discloses high performance UV cross-linked polymer functionalized molecular sieve/polymer mixed matrix membranes (MMMs) with either no macrovoids or voids of less than several angstroms at the interface of the polymer matrix and the molecular sieves. These UV cross-linked MMMs were prepared by incorporating polyethersulfone (PES) functionalized molecular sieves such as AlPO-14 and UZM-25 small pore microporous molecular sieves into a continuous UV cross-linkable polyimide polymer matrix followed by UV cross-linking. The UV cross-linked MMMs in the form of symmetric dense film, asymmetric flat sheet membrane, or asymmetric hollow fiber membranes have good flexibility, high mechanical strength, and exhibit significantly enhanced selectivity and permeability over polymer membranes made from corresponding continuous polyimide polymer matrices for carbon dioxide/methane and hydrogen/methane separations. The MMMs of the present invention are suitable for a variety of liquid, gas, and vapor separations.

摘要: Improved catalyst assemblies for vapor/liquid contact towers. Bundles of catalyst media used to promote chemical reactions are disposed substantially in the vapor phase of the tower, such as beneath trays therein for improving mass transfer efficiency. Unlike previous assemblies, wherein distillation in conjunction with chemical reaction occurs in the liquid phase or in a mixed phase, the present invention substantially confines the reaction step to the vapor phase. In this manner, the reaction is less obstructive to fluid flow within the tower, promoting better mixing and diffusion of the feed components in the vapor phase. In addition, less turbulence is created and the handling of vapors generated from an exothermic reaction is facilitated. The design and control of the chemical reaction may also be more precise with distinct and separate zones of catalyst media

摘要: A method and apparatus is provided for removing catalyst from a distillation column reactor and replacing the catalyst with fresh or regenerated catalyst. More specifically a small particulate catalyst is supported by wire mesh or screen or filter medium on trays in a conventional distillation column and substantially submerged by the liquid on the trays. The vapor rising through the liquid tends to keep the catalyst in suspension in the liquid. A draw-off is provided for each tray having catalyst supported thereon whereby liquid containing the suspended or slurried catalyst can be removed to a separator during operation. The catalyst is separated, as in a settling tank separator, from the liquid recycled to the tray until all the catalyst has been removed. The separated catalyst is removed for either regeneration or discarding. Fresh catalyst can then be added to the separator where it is slurried into the liquid again being recirculated from the tray. The trays can all be connected to the same separator/slurry mixer by the appropriate piping and manifolds.
