    摘要: The mixing element (2) is provided for a flange transition (10) in a pipeline (1) and can be mounted between two flanges (11, 12) of the pipeline. It comprises a mixing-active structure (25) which is formed by one or two vanes (25a, 25b) within a ring (20). Two mutually inclined planes (21, 22) can be defined, with the one vane being arranged on the one plane or the two vanes being arranged on the two planes. The two planes intersect at a crossing axis (23). Closed sub-surfaces (52, 51′) as well as open pieces of surface (51, 520, 521, 522) of vanes form a surface pattern (5) which is formed asymmetrically with respect to the crossing axis. Through the asymmetric shape a fluid (9) which flows through the pipeline can be deflected in such a manner that partial flows (9b) are deflected from one pipe half through sub-surfaces of the one plane (21) into the other pipe half and encounter there largely non-deflected partial flows, with this also holding vice versa with respect to the other plane (22) if on the latter there is a second vane (25b) having structure elements.

    摘要: A stationary mixing machine for mixing various fluid materials in a line. In a fluid path, a pair of mixing element portions 2 and 3 is concentrically arranged. At a surface formed by overlapping these mixing element portions 2 and 3, a respective fluid path is formed as mixing chambers 8 (13) at the both elements. These mixing chambers are peripherally, radially and concentrically, arranged. Fluid material flown from an opening 5 provided at a central portion of one of the mixing element portions 2 and 3 is flown in a radius direction, the juxtaposed mixing chambers in the adjacent rows can be communicated each other and a shearing stress is applied by providing a partition or a step so as to accomplish uniformly mixed and finely-dividing dispersing action.

    摘要: A static mixer element and a method for mixing first and second (or more) fluids using a static mixer element. The static mixer element includes a directional flow axis which points in an intended downstream direction opposite to an intended upstream direction. The static mixer element also includes interdigitated static mixer blades. The blades each have a concave side which faces generally in the intended upstream direction at an acute angle with respect to the intended upstream direction. The static mixer element is placed in a pipe with the directional flow axis of the static mixer element pointing downstream. The first and second fluids are introduced into the pipe upstream from the static mixer element. Optionally, other static mixer elements can be added downstream, wherein even-numbered elements are rotated ninety-degrees about the directional flow axis from odd-numbered static mixer elements.

The mixing chamber has a first inlet arrangement for the supply of a first fluid and a second inlet arrangement for the supply of a second fluid. The mixing chamber includes a wall along which the first fluid flows, and the second inlet arrangement has at least one opening in the wall. A projection is located on the wall adjacent to the opening and extending into the mixing chamber so that the first fluid flows around the projection and builds a boundary layer with the second fluid. Mixing takes place by diffusion through the boundary layer.

    摘要: The present invention relates to an in situ micromachined mixer for microfluidic analytical systems. In a preferred embodiment, a 100 pL mixer for liquids transported by electroosmotic flow (EOF) is described. Mixing was achieved in multiple intersecting channels with a bimodal width distribution and varying lengths. Five &mgr;m width channels ran parallel to the direction of flow whereas larger 27 &mgr;m width channels ran back and forth through the network at a 45° angle. All channels were approximately 10 &mgr;m deep. It was observed that little mixing of confluent streams occurred in the 100 &mgr;m wide mixer inlet channel where mixing would be achieved almost exclusively by diffusion. In contrast, mixing was complete after passage through the channel network in the ≈200 &mgr;m length mixer. Solvent composition was altered by varying the voltage on solvent reservoirs. The high efficiency attained in this mixer was attributed to the presence of a 2 pL vortex in the center of the mixer. Video tracking of fluorescent particles with a fluorescence microscope allowed the position and volume of this vortex to be determined.

    摘要: The static mixer contains precision cast elements (1) which are arranged along a central axis (10) and which in each case have a reinforcement region (4) at their circumference which extends over the entire circumference. These cast elements (1) are assembled with intermediate elements (2) to form a cylindrical body. Joint locations between the elements (1, 2) form surfaces (40a, 40b, 20a, 20b) which stand transversely to the central axis. For each isolated cast element, in a rotation about its central axis the joint locations are accessible to machining tools for a subsequent machining—in particular for a grinding or turning. As a result of the subsequent machining a predetermined total length (L) of the mixer in the direction of the central axis can be precisely achieved.
