Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention relate to a mixing apparatus. Particularly, embodiments of the present invention provide a mixing apparatus for mixing fluid components such as phosgene and amine during a highly reactive chemical reaction. One embodiment provides a mixing conduit comprising a cylindrical sidewall defining an inner volume, wherein one or more jets are formed through the cylindrical sidewalls and connect to the inner volume and one or more flow obstructions disposed in the inner volume, wherein each flow obstruction is positioned upstream from an associated aperture.

Abstract: A swirl mixer for mixing a reducing agent with exhaust gas in a selective catalytic reduction (SCR) aftertreatment system is described. The swirl mixer may comprise a base permitting a flow of the reducing agent and the exhaust gas therethrough, and three arrays of fins projecting from the base in a direction of flow of the exhaust gas. The three arrays of fins may be arranged in a triangular configuration about a center of the mixer to induce a swirl motion to the reducing agent and the exhaust gas flowing through the mixer. The fins in each of the arrays may be oriented in a common direction that is rotated by about 60° from the common direction of the fins in an adjacent array.

Abstract: A dual mixer for mixing a reducing agent with exhaust gas in a mixing section of a selective catalytic reduction (SCR) aftertreatment system is disclosed. The dual mixer may comprise a first mixer including a grid and a plurality of trapezoidal fins projecting from the grid in a direction of flow of the exhaust gas. The dual mixer may further comprise a swirl mixer positioned downstream of the first mixer and separated therefrom by a distance. The swirl mixer may include a base and three arrays of swirl fins projecting from the base in the direction of flow of the exhaust gas. The swirl fins in each of the arrays may be oriented in a common direction that is rotated by about 60° from the common direction of the swirl fins in an adjacent array.

Abstract: A biological fluid sample analysis cartridge is provided. The cartridge includes a housing, a fluid module, and an analysis chamber. The fluid module includes a sample acquisition port and an initial channel, and is connected to the housing. The initial channel is sized to draw fluid sample by capillary force, and is in fluid communication with the acquisition port. The initial channel is fixedly positioned relative to the acquisition port such that at least a portion of a fluid sample disposed within the acquisition port will draw into the initial channel. The analysis chamber is connected to the housing, and is in fluid communication with the initial channel.

A discharge part is provided that communicates with the gas accommodation part to collect and discharge the gases and a mixing plate part is provided, which has a plurality of unit plates disposed on the upper and lower portions of a hollow portion of the discharge part in such a manner as to have a given angle with respect to the directions of the gases discharged.

Abstract: An aftertreatment system comprises a SCR system. A mixing assembly is positioned upstream of the SCR system and includes a housing defining a flow path for an exhaust gas. An injection port is defined on a first sidewall of the housing and oriented at a predetermined angle relative to a longitudinal axis of the flow path. A mixer is positioned within the flow path downstream of the injection port and includes a plurality of plates each positioned in the flow path. A first plate is positioned distal to the injection port and adjacent to a second sidewall of the housing opposite to the first sidewall. The first plate has a first length substantially longer than a length of the other plates and extends in a direction upstream of the mixer. An exhaust reductant injector is positioned on the first sidewall of the housing proximal to the injection port.
