    摘要: An improved machine for forming a plurality of thin, spiral grooves in the inner surface of a metal pipe. A grooving plug is inserted and held in the metal pipe in such a manner that its axial position is constant and the metal pipe, while being moved longitudinally, is pressed by a plurality of balls which rotate planetarily around the outer surface of the metal pipe at a position corresponding to the position of the grooving plug to continuously form a plurality of spiral grooves in the inner surface of the metal pipe. Thereafter, the metal pipe is finished through a die. The machine manufactures at a high rate metal pipe which has a smooth outer surface and a grooved inner surface.

    摘要: According to the present invention, in a method of controlling a mill pacing in a rolling equipment wherein a plurality of serial rolling mills are provided downstream of a heating furnace in which a plurality of materials are rested on a furnace hearth integrally moving with the materials and can be successively extracted, respective rolling cycle times are sought from periods of time between the starts of rolling in respective rolling mills of a subsequent material to be extracted from the heating furnace and the readiness for rolling of the following material in the respective rolling mills, the maximum value of the above-described respective rolling cycle times is assumed as an extraction cycle time of the subsequent material to be extracted to thereby presuppose an extraction time of the subsequent material to be extracted from the heating furnace, allowable retard periods of time of the materials immediately before the respective rolling mills are predetermined, the presupposed retard periods of time of the subsequent materials to be extracted immediately before the respective rolling mills are confirmed to be within the aforesaid allowable retard periods of time, and further, a heating critical cycle time is confirmed to be securable which is sufficient for applying heat of a predetermined value to the subsequent material to be extracted through the latest material to be loaded, whereby the subsequent material is extracted at the aforesaid presupposed extraction time. As a result, the operating condition of the rolling line as a whole are optimized, so that the productivity can be improved.

    摘要: A pierced metal blank having an annular cross-section with one end closed and the other end open for use in the manufacture of seamless tubes has a bore with portions of different diameters, the portion of larger diameter, which is adjacent the open end of the blank has a wall thickness which is less than that of the portion of smaller diameter which is adjacent the closed end of the blank. Preferably there is a conical transition between the two portions of different diameters. The blank is preferably made from a metal billet of square cross-section in a substantially cylindrical piercing mould by piercing the billet within the mould by means of a stepped mandrel which presses the material of the square billet outwards into contact with the cylindrical wall of the mould.

    摘要: A pierced billet is fed through a plug rolling mill, equipped with a plurality of grooves. Initial rolling is effected in conventional manner, i.e. the shell is (i) rammed over a forming plug mounted on the front end of a mandrel, (ii) drawn over the plug by the work rolls, (iii) removed from the mandrel and (iv) returned to the entering side of the mill. Rather than effecting a second pass on the shell in the same roll groove, the shell is transferred to an adjacent receiving trough, aligned with a second groove of the same work roll. A second shell is then placed on the trough aligned with the first roll groove, thereafter the first shell is given a second pass in conjunction with the first pass of the next shell. Because of the use of more than one groove for subsequent passes, each roll pass can be contoured to suit the reduction desired. Thus, use of a second groove for the second pass permits a reduction in the roll flare employed, such that a significantly rounder tube can be delivered in the finish pass.

    摘要: In a method of producing seamless steel tube from billet having a square or rectangular cross-section by the step of piercing a workpiece and rolling steps following the piercing step, each of such steps being conducted with a plug held by a mandrel toward the center of cross section of the workpiece while the workpiece is rolled by a pair of rolls with axes arranged horizontally. The piercing step includes guiding the workpiece by a plurality of pairs of guide rolls provided along the rolling line ahead of the rolling rolls as the billet is forced therethrough to maintain the billet in such a position that the hollow shell will not have any nonuniformity of wall thickness and piercing workpiece with a plug as the workpiece is pushed and inserted between the rolling rolls under the forced guidance by a pushing force working in the axial direction, and as the plug progresses into the center of cross section of the workpiece, so as to pierce the workpiece, thereby producing seamless steel tube having very little nonuniformity of the wall thickness.

    摘要: A multi-roll mandrel mill comprises a plurality of grooved roll bodies as a roll pass for elongation rolling of a shell and a plurality of roll stands, each having roll shafts and roll chock portions for driving the grooved roll bodies for driving the grooved roll bodies, wherein bearings are internally contained in each grooved roll body. Optimizing the design of roll chock portions for every setup is achieved by a tube-making setup of the mandrel mill, wherein at least one of either or both of the roll shafts and the roll chock portions is replaced with a part(s) having a different shape(s) in addition to changing of the grooved roll bodies. The optimization of the design is effective in preventing underfill and overfill.
