Abstract: A roller tappet assembly for a reciprocating pump comprises: a tappet body; a pin element comprising: first and second opposing end portions that engage respective formations in the tappet body to retain the pin element, and a bearing portion, extending between the first and second end portions, for supporting a cam rider arrangement. The cam rider arrangement is supported on the bearing portion of the pin element so that, in use, the reciprocating pump is cyclically loaded and unloaded as an outer surface of the cam rider arrangement interfaces with a rotating camshaft. At least one of: the bearing portion of the pin element; and/or an inner surface of the cam rider arrangement; comprises one or more recessed formations for supporting hydrodynamic lubrication between the cam rider arrangement and the pin element as the bearing portion bends during the loading cycle.

Abstract: A tappet assembly for use in translating force between a camshaft lobe and a fuel pump assembly via reciprocal movement within a tappet cylinder having a guide slot. The tappet assembly includes a bearing assembly having a shaft and a bearing rotatably supported by the shaft for engaging the lobe. An intermediate element has a first aperture, a shelf for engaging the fuel pump assembly, and a pair of arc-shaped bearing surfaces rotatably engaging the shaft when the bearing engages the lobe and the shelf engages the fuel pump assembly. An annular body has a second aperture and at least one stop member abutting the intermediate element to align the first aperture with the second aperture. An anti-rotation clip is disposed so as to extend through the apertures and cooperates with the stop member to substantially prevent rotational and axial movement of the intermediate element with respect to the body.

The first member is movable in a first direction that applies a load to the biasing member which creates a torque on the biasing member. The pump assembly also includes a second member that separates the first member and the biasing member such that the torque on the biasing member is transferred to the second member without transferring the torque to the first member when the first member applies the load to the biasing member.

Abstract: A fuel pump includes a holed disk-shaped plate and a coil spring to press the plate toward a lifter. The plate has an inner circumferential surface to be engaged with a groove in a projection-side end portion of a plunger. Also, a joint port that connects the inner peripheral surface of the plate to an outer peripheral surface thereof is provided in the plate. The coil spring is located between the plate and a pump body. The plate is assembled in the fuel pump to dispose the joint port at a position in an opposite direction to the direction of a side force to be generated during compression of the coil spring when viewed from a central axis of the coil spring.
