The compositions comprise the reaction product of an equivalent excess of an acrylic type acid with a particular class of polyester polyol. The polyester polyol is the condensation product of an excess of an aliphatic polyol having at least two hydroxyl groups and a molecular weight of from 60 to 250 with a specific class of aliphatic polycarboxylic acids derived from fatty and resin acids.

    摘要: A coating composition adapted for repairing a damaged coating on a substrate comprises as the binder a mixture of a polyacrylate, an acrylated alkyd resin and a cellulose ester which form 100 percent of the binder. The coating composition is particularly well suited for use in preparing damaged paint on a motor vehicle body. The binder may be mixed with a volatile inert organic solvent for the binder in making the composition. The composition has a higher solids content than composition usually used for repairing damaged coatings and much thicker layers of the coating composition may be applied. By mixing the components of the binder in the ratio of 10 to 60 parts by weight of polyacrylate to 30 to 75 parts by weight of acrylated alkyd resin and 5 to 45 parts by weight cellulose ester to form the binder a coating composition having reduced tendency to crack and of improved solids content is obtained.

    摘要: An improved autoxidizable coating and/or impregnating composition consisting essentially of:(1) from about 35% to about 80% by weight, based on the total weight of components (1), (2), and (3), of a film-forming component selected from the group consisting of drying oils, alkyd resins, and mixtures of drying oils and alkyd resins,(2) from about 10% to about 50% by weight, based on the total weight of components (1), (2), and (3), of a polymer of a molecular weight in the range of 1,000-50,000 (Mn) polymerized from a monomer system comprising:(a) from about 40% to 100% by weight of at least one monomer selected from the group consisting of dicyclopentenyl methacrylate and dicyclopentenyloxyalkyl methacrylate, and(b) from about 60% to 0% by weight of at least one compatible monomer,(3) from 0 to about 40% by weight, based on the total weight of components (1), (2), and (3), of a reactive, non-volatile diluent monomer, and(4) an effective amount of at least one polyvalent metal salt or complex that catalyzes the oxidative curing of components (1), (2), and (3), wherein the total of the percentages of components (1), (2), and (3) is 100.

    摘要: The invention relates to a composition for the protection of materials against contaminations, spots and stains.This liquid composition comprises by weight 0.1 to 1% of at least one fluorinated resin based on acrylic or methacrylic esters of fluorinated sulfonamido-alcohol, associated or not with non-fluorinated monomers, 0.4 to 10% of at least one adjuvant selected from aminoplast resins based on melamine, thermoplastic resins and waxes, and 89 to 99.5% of at least one organic solvent.Applied on materials such as walls, facades, monuments or sculptures in cement, bricks, concrete or stones and other construction elements, the composition according to the invention confers on the materials an excellent protection against natural or artificial contaminations.

    摘要: Low molecular weight copolymers (1) acrylic acid esters or methacrylic acid esters of alcohols such as methanol with (2) esters of bicyclic alcohols such as isobornyl alcohol and unsaturated acids such as methacrylic acid, as contrasted with high molecular weight copolymers of such monomers (1) and (2) (see U.S. Pat. No. 3,485,775) and as contrasted to other acrylic polymers, are found to be exceptional in compatibility with practically all types of polyesters and alkyds and with many other types of lacquer film-forming materials. The modifiers, particulary for alkyds, need not be selected on the basis of the oil length or solvent (aromatic or aliphatic), the modifiers being compatible with long oil alkyds, medium oil alkyds, and short oil alkyds. When small amounts of unsaturated amine-containing monomers or unsaturated carboxylic acids, or other polar monomers and combinations thereof, are incorporated in the polymer solutions, they become improved pigment dispersants. Such pigment dispersions, unexpectedly, can be let down with many types of synthetic resins and used by air-drying or baking the coated articles. Lacquers for metals, paints, and printing inks are examples of uses for such blends.
