摘要: A sensing optical fiber includes multiple waveguides or cores to allow sensing of multiple measurands using a single fiber. The fiber can be a dual clad fiber having a single mode core and a multi-mode core disposed radially or circumferentially about the single mode core. A dual clad fiber coupler couples source light from a DAS interrogator and a DTS interrogator into the dual clad fiber in use.

摘要: Provided is a downhole rotary slip ring joint, a well system, and a method for accessing a wellbore. The downhole rotary slip ring joint, in one aspect, includes an outer mandrel, an inner mandrel operable to rotate relative to the outer mandrel, first and second outer mandrel communication connections coupled to the outer mandrel. The downhole rotary slip ring joint, according to this aspect, further includes first and second inner mandrel communication connections coupled to the inner mandrel, a first and second passageway extending through the outer mandrel and the inner mandrel, the first and second passageway configured to provide continuous coupling between the second outer mandrel communication connection and the second inner mandrel communication connection regardless of a rotation of the inner mandrel relative to the outer mandrel, wherein the downhole rotary slip ring joint is operable to be coupled to a wellbore access tool.

摘要: A system for measuring a porosity of a gravel pack in a wellbore includes a transmitting acoustic transducer attached to a sand screen and configured to transmit an acoustic signal. The system further includes multiple acoustic transducers attached to the sand screen and configured to receive the acoustic signal through the gravel pack. The system also includes a control device configured to receive electrical signals from the multiple acoustic transducers and determine the porosity of the gravel pack around the sand screen based on at least the electrical signals. The electrical signals are generated from the acoustic signal received by the multiple acoustic transducers.

摘要: An apparatus, method, and system for monitoring wellbore deformation is disclosed. The apparatus includes an expandable annular cylindrical packer and a plurality of assemblies mounted on an exterior circumferential surface of the packer. The plurality of assemblies are configured to be pressed against a wellbore surface by the packer. Each of the assemblies includes at least one fiber-optic coil embedded in a sheet of deformable substrate, a tray-shaped receptacle formed from a low thermal conductivity material and attached along the rim to an edge of the sheet with a pressure tight-seal, and an optical coupler configured to couple the fiber-optic coil to a fiber-optic cable. The assemblies further include a pressure-tight compartment containing a high-pressure inert gas that is formed by the receptacle, the sheet, and the seal.

摘要: Methods for determining sensor channel location in distributed sensing of fiber-optic cables are disclosed. In one method, three or more Fiber Bragg-Gratings (FBGs) connected in series by a standard telecommunication fiber and interrogated using an input distributed fiber-optic sensing (DFOS) laser, where the input DFOS laser has a single wavelength. The input DFOS laser operates on a single wavelength that is different than the respective wavelengths of each of the three or more FBGs. The three or more FBGs are interrogated using an input broadband FBG laser. Each FBG reflects a wavelength of laser light that is proportional to the grating size, using an optical time domain reflectometer (OTDR) at the FBG wavelength, the distance to the particular FBG in the optical domain is computed and compared to the physical measurement of the FBG location. The sensor channel locations of the DFOS system are calibrated and constrained using this method.
