    摘要: Method for controlling the supply of electrical energy to an electromagnetic device and use of a sliding mode controller. Control devices are known in which, in order to obtain a desired movement of an electromagnetically activated gas exchange valve, the supply of electrical energy is controlled as a function of a measured position of the gas exchange valve. The novel method is intended to optimize the control with respect to the movement forms to be obtained, the formation of noise and/or the required use of electrical energy. In a control device according to the invention, a differential signal is generated using the movement signal or a signal generated from the movement signal, and using a desired signal. The supply of electrical energy to the activating device of the gas exchange valve is controlled by means of a sliding mode controller using the differential signal.

    摘要: A fuel injector has a body containing a mechanism that is operable to cause fuel to be injected out of the body and into an engine combustion chamber. An electric actuator operates the mechanism to initiate fuel injection and to terminate fuel injection. The injector has an identity circuit that possesses an identity characteristic identifying a calibration category into which the fuel injector has been previously categorized based on data obtained from actual operation of the fuel injector. In some embodiments the identity circuit is electrically connected in shunt with the electric actuator and imposes no significant effect on the response of the fuel injector to the initiating and terminating electric signals. In others, it is connected between engine ground and one actuator terminal.

    摘要: A fuel injector assembly includes a plurality of fuel injectors (22), each of which may have a different performance characteristic. After the performance characteristics have been determined, an internal, energizable voltage or current source (28) is provided within the injector housing (23). Each time the vehicle ignition is turned on, a controller (26) queries each injector (22) to obtain a signal from the individual, internal, energizable voltage or current sources (28). The controller (26) then uses the output of the internal voltage or current source (28) as an indication of the performance characteristics of each injector (22). The controller then customizes the power signal supplied to each injector to accommodate for different performance characteristics.

    摘要: The invention relates to a method for monitoring an electromagnetic actuator having at least one electromagnet. This electromagnet acts on an armature, which is displaceable against the force of at least one pull-back spring, and is used for operating an actuator, in particular an electromagnetic actuator for operating a gas exchange valve on the cylinder of an internal combustion engine. In accordance with this method, the electric power of the magnet is controlled via an electric control system. The other electric power parameter, which depends on the controlled electric power parameter, serves as a monitoring parameter, and its curve in time is determined as an actual value, which is then compared with a theoretical value. This theoretical value is the curve in time preset in the control system to ensure correct functioning. In the case of a discrepancy between these two values, an adjustment signal is produced.

    摘要: In a multi-port fuel injection system for a lean burn engine, the attaching of fuel particles from the fuel spray onto a wall surface, which is a problem in atomizing injected fuel, is reduced, and the quality and shape of the mixed gas in the cylinders of the engine is improved. The engine has a fuel injector 1; an intake valve 6 for opening and closing an intake port; and an intake air flow control device 10. The injected fuel is shaped to provide a low penetration fuel spray when the engine is operated in a low load state and at a low rotation speed, and the injected fuel is shaped to provide a high penetration fuel spray when the engine is operated in a high load state and at a high rotation speed. The fuel is injected in synchronism with the intake stroke of the engine, and it is transported by the air flow flowing through the intake air flow control device 10 to suppress the attaching of fuel particles from the fuel spray onto a wall surface of the intake manifold.
