摘要： A lighting assembly for use in a cigaret lighter shell. The lighting assembly comprises an insulative case for housing a power supply, such as batteries, and conductors for establishing an electrical circuit that includes the batteries, the conductors, and a light bulb and that does not rely on conductivity of the shell. An adjustable reflector and lens may be provided to focus and direct the beam generated by the bulb. One conductor is moved into contact with another of the conductors in response to opening of the lid of the shell to close the electrical circuit to turn the flashlight on. One of the conductors is moved out of contact with another in response to closing of the lid to turn the flashlight off. One of the conductors is positioned for preventing its contact with another conductor when the lighting assembly is removed from the shell so that it is turned off. One conductor may be manually positioned or locked in position so that it is not in contact with another conductor so that the flashlight is turned off while the lid is open.

摘要： The invention provides a mechanism for retaining a bulb in position in a lamp holder of a reflector. The lamp holder comprises a circulat bearing surface for engagement by the flange of a bulb, and the mechanism comprises a spring clip pivotally mounted on one side of the lamp holder and having cranked legs adapted to bear against the bulb flange. The spring clip is adapted to engage a catch element on the opposite side of the lamp holder which comprises a lamp engageable by the end of the spring clip, which terminates in a catch. The catch element also incorporates a release ramp facing the catch. On fitting of the bulb, pressure on the spring clip towards the opening causes the clip to side over the ramp and engage the catch, thereby to secure the bulb. Removal of the bulb is acheived by pressure on the spring clip in the same direction, which causes the clip to slide over the release ramp and pass out of the catch element, thereby releasing the bulb.

摘要： A hydrological barrier plate for in-grade light fixture housings and a housing for use with light fixtures to prevent water entry into the water sensitive compartments of the light fixture. The barrier plate has a plate body with an opening in which is sealably disposed an anti-syphon wire pass-through valve for electrically connecting the components on one side of the barrier plate with the wires in the junction box on the opposite side of the barrier plate. The barrier plate is sealed around its outer edge against the housing wall. The pass-through valve is configured to prevent water from wicking along the wires and to prevent water from passing around the valve. The barrier plate is installed without tools and an effective seal is easily obtained. Using the barrier plate, water is prevented from migrating between the junction box and the primary housing compartments of the housing.

摘要： A lamp package includes a base for insertion into an electrical socket, a complete dimmable ballast circuit contained within and electrically connected to the base, and a fluorescent lamp, including a CFLP, connected to and dimmed through the ballast circuit. The base may include a thermally conductive body, such as an epoxy, so that the base dissipates heat from the ballast. The package may also include a diffuser, possibly connected directly to the base, that surrounds the lamp. In a further aspect of the invention, the lamp package includes one or more of a variety of sensors, such as a photodetector, that are connected to the dimmable ballast circuit, thereby providing a self-dimming lamp. The self-dimming lamp is suitable for use in a standard Edison socket and with CFLPs to provide a self-regulated light output. Various lighting schemes may be incorporated into the dimmable ballast circuit, such as regulated light output applications.
