摘要： Devices, systems, functional data and methods are provided for an improved route generation in navigational enabled devices. In generating the route, the available locations are inspected repetitively and locations adjacent to a last selected location are inserted into a first data structure such that the first location of the first data structure is always a least cost location associated with all adjacent locations comprising the first data structure. The first location is then optionally inserted into a second data structure. The generated route includes the current location, one or more first locations, and the destination.

摘要： A navigation apparatus is disclosed which may be used by law enforcement personnel for rapid intervention to a location while adding safety and reliability to the process. The apparatus includes a computer system, having an operating system, memory and a user interface. The system further includes a positioning system, such as a GPS system for determining the position of a vehicle. The positioning system communicates with the operating system. An information database, communicating with the operating system, contains data related to routing information concerning routes for travel by the vehicle. The routing information includes safety information concerning route safety in the traveling region accessible by the vehicle. The apparatus further includes a routing system in communication with the operating system that determines a route based at least in part on the routing information. Driving directions and call information are provided multi-modally to provide the officer with critical information in an efficient and timely fashion.

摘要： In a vehicular navigation system, an electronic control unit uses in its recommended vehicle travel path determination processing restricted-type roads the data of which is less reliable than those of normal roads. A display device indicates the recommended travel path on a road map displayed thereon. When a vehicle travels on the restricted-type road, a travel guidance specific to the restricted-type road is issued to notify a driver of traveling on the restricted-type road and thereby invite the driver to decide himself or herself. The guidance may be in a vocal announcement from a speaker and/or a visual display on the display device.

摘要： A vehicle navigation system includes an update module that provides travel advisory information on a real time basis. The update module receives traffic advisory signals such as intelligent highway system signals, safety warning system signals and specially encoded traffic reports from radio stations. The travel advisory signals are utilized by the navigation system to provide a route guidance strategy to a driver that is not limited by the information from a prestored map database. While travelling, the update module continues to provide information that is utilized to generate an updated route as appropriate. Additionally, the vehicle navigation system preferably includes the ability to generate a beacon signal indicating that the vehicle is in a position or condition that presents a potential traffic hazard to other drivers. The beacon signal from the navigation system of this invention is one example of the kind of travel advisory signal that the inventive navigation system uses to generate an updated route guidance strategy.
