摘要: Disclosed are a copolymer, porous membranes made from the copolymer, and a method of treating fluids using the porous membranes to remove metal ions, for example, from fluids originating in the microelectronics industry, wherein the copolymer includes polymerized monomeric units I and II, wherein monomeric unit I is of the formula A-X—CH2—B, wherein A is Rf—(CH2)n, Rf is a perfluoro alkyl group of the formula CF3—(CF2)x—, wherein x is 3-12, n is 1-6, X is O or S, and B is vinylphenyl, the monomeric unit II is haloalkyl styrene, and optionally wherein the halo group of haloalkyl is replaced with an optional substituent, for example, ethylenediamine tetra acetic acid, iminodiacetic acid, or iminodisuccinic acid.

摘要: A method for efficiently producing a poly(ethylene glycol)-b-poly(halomethylstyrene), a novel poly(ethylene glycol)-b-poly(halomethylstyrene) produced using the method, and a derivative thereof. The target novel copolymer can be provided by introducing a functional group, which enables reversible addition-fragmentation chain transfer (RAFT) polymerization, to the ω terminal of poly(ethylene glycol) and copolymerizing the resulting poly(ethylene glycol) with a halomethylstyrene.

摘要: A GI type optical fiber of the present invention is a GI type optical fiber having a core component and a cladding component disposed around the outer periphery of the core component, the core component includes a polymer containing at least 55 wt % chlorostyrene monomer and a dopant, and the cladding component includes a polymer of a monomer containing at least 35 wt % methyl methacrylate. It is an object of the present invention to provide a GI type optical fiber in which chlorostyrene is used as the predominant component of the monomer that constitutes the core component, and therefore has excellent transparency and good flexibility, and allows high-speed communication.

摘要: A process has been invented for removing contaminants (including solvent) from a flowing polymer, the process, in one aspect, including dissolving a sparingly soluble stripping agent into a flowing polymer, the sparingly soluble stripping agent stripping contaminants from the flowing polymer creating a mixture of contaminants and sparingly soluble stripping agent, which flows out from the flowing polymer, and separating the mixture from the polymer. In one aspect, recyclable sparingly soluble stripping agent is recovered and re-used.

摘要: There is provided a method for the suspension polymerization of one or more styrenic monomers. This method involves increasing the amount of substantially water insoluble free radical initiator in the suspension after the conversion of the monomer has reached at least 50%. The temperature of the suspension is at least 110.degree. C. throughout the entire polymerization.
