摘要: The present invention is to provide an AC type PDP which can be manufactured by an inexpensive thick-film process without a thin-film process which is difficult to manufacture an MgO protection layer and the like and which has a panel structure that can be driven at a low voltage. Of a pair of discharge electrodes, one electrode is formed as a so-called AC type electrode in which a conducting electrode material is formed as an independent floating electrode separated at every pixel, this floating electrode being connected through a dielectric layer to a bus electrode in a capacity coupling fashion. The other discharge electrode is formed as a so-called DC type electrode in which a bus electrode is exposed to the discharge space as it is. 摘要: A plasma display device having a plasma display panel in which, each display cell contains a magnesium oxide layer including magnesium oxide crystals that are excited by an electron beam to emit cathode luminescence light having a peak in a wavelength range of 200 to 300 nm. In an addressing period, a row electrode driving circuit applies a scanning pulse to one row electrodes of row electrode pairs in turn, while a column electrode driving circuit supplies column electrodes with data pulses corresponding to one row electrode which is applied with the scanning pulse.

摘要: A plasma display panel and a driving method thereof The driving method includes estimating a gray scale of an input image signal and checking on/off patterns of discharge cells in a sub-field representing the gray scale, identifying an insufficient discharge cell having the insufficient discharging pattern among the on/off patterns of the discharge cells, and increasing the width of a scan pulse applied to first electrodes of the insufficient discharge cell during an address period of the sub-field in which the identified insufficient discharge cell is discharged. With this method, efficiency of an address-discharge can be enhanced.

The display device comprises: a characteristic acquisition unit for obtaining a characteristic indicative of a correspondence relationship between an average peak level and the number of display pulses corresponding to a target power consumption; an average peak level detector for detecting an average peak level of an input image signal; a driving control unit for determining the number of display pulses corresponding to the detected average peak level with reference to the characteristic; a driver for generating a display pulse a number of times equal to the number determined by the driving control unit; and a display panel for receiving the display pulses supplied from the driver to emit light at a luminance depending on the number of display pulses.

摘要: A plasma display device and a driving method thereof. For a plasma display device having an M electrode between X and Y electrodes, a sustain pulse is applied to the X and Y electrodes during an entire period, and a reset waveform and a scan pulse are applied to the M electrode. In addition, a scan pulse is applied to the M electrode while applying the sustain pulse to the X or the Y electrode. As a result, a gently decreasing reset waveform may be used so as to enhance contrast. Furthermore, driving circuits for driving the X and Y electrodes may be designed with the same scheme. In addition, an accurate address operation may be achieved.

摘要: A plasma display panel including a rear substrate, a front substrate disposed separated from the rear substrate, partition walls disposed between the front substrate and the rear substrate to define discharge cells together with the front and rear substrates, sustain electrode pairs extending across the discharge cells, and address electrodes extending in a direction substantially perpendicular to the sustain electrode pairs. A sustain electrode comprises a bus electrode and a transparent electrode. The bus electrode extends across the discharge cells, and the transparent electrode comprises a body portion disposed apart from the bus electrode in a direction towards a center of a discharge cell and a connection portion electrically connecting the body portion to the bus electrode. A ratio of a width of the body portion to a length of the connection portion is in a range of 1.2 to 2.2.

摘要: A plasma display device and a method of driving a plasma display panel are provided for improving the contrast without degrading the image quality. Each of display cells formed on the plasma display panel has a magnesium oxide layer containing magnesium oxide crystals. The magnesium oxide crystals are excited by an electron beam irradiated thereto and emit cathode luminescence light having a peak in a wavelength range of 200 to 300 nm. In order to trigger a rest discharge in all the display cells, each row electrode pair of the plasma display panel is applied with a reset pulse which has a particular pulse waveform. The voltage value of this reset pulse slowly changes over time to reach a peak voltage value.
