    摘要: A magnetron is provided and includes a tube body with a plurality of communicated first cavities therein, a plurality of anodes in the first cavities including a cylinder and a plurality of vanes, outer ends of the vanes are connected with an inner circumferential surface of the cylinder; a first resonant cavity and a second resonant cavity are formed between the adjacent vanes, the cylinder is provided with a plurality of coupling slots arranged at intervals and running through the cylinder to communicate the first resonant cavity with the first cavity; a plurality of cathode arranged in and coaxially with the cylinder; the cathodes and inner ends of the vanes are spaced apart; at least part of the cathodes are located inside vanes, and an output slot is defined on the tube body for communicating the first cavity with an outside.

    摘要: Improved magnetron oscillators that controllably form a plasma within each of its resonant cavities to rapidly change the resonant frequency of each cavity. The present invention also provides for frequency tuning methods for use with magnetron oscillators. The plasma is controllably formed in one or more subcells of each resonant cavity in a manner that alters the electromagnetic field within each cavity. Preferably, a magnetized collisional plasma is controlled to rapidly change the resonant frequency of each cavity. However, many types of plasmas may be used to implement the present invention. Controlling formation of the plasma within each cavity tunes the magnetron oscillator on a submillisecond time scale.

    摘要: A magnetron includes a cathode and vane type anode structure. The frequency of oscillation of a microwave output signal of the magnetron is tunable by means of a tuning member, which is in the form of an annular plate arranged adjacent resonant cavities of the magnetron. The frequency of oscillation is determined by the position of the tuning member relative to the resonant cavities. When it is wished to tune the magnetron output frequency a current is passed along a path defined by the tuning member. This causes axial forces to be exerted on the tuning member so that it moves. Since the current is arranged to pass through the tuning member itself, the device is particularly simple, no actuating mechanisms or drive coils, for example, being necessary.

    摘要: In a magnetron having a rotatable tuning member in the form of a spinner (121), a rotation sensor and an associated processor (10) generates an indication signal (11) representing the instantaneous magnetron frequency. Three level discriminators 13(1), 13(2), 13(3) are arranged to compare the indication signal (11) with respective threshold signals 14(1), 14(2), 14(3) representing different, preset frequencies. The level discriminators produce a trigger signal T effective to initiate transmission of a pulse of radiation whenever the instantaneous magnetron frequency matches one of the preset frequencies.

    摘要: The invention relates to a tunable magnetron comprising a rotatable tuning element (10) projecting into a ring shaped interaction space between coaxially arranged cathode and anode systems. The tuning element (10) is driven by an electric motor (11) and produces upon rotation a periodic variation of the tuning. The tuning element (10) is situated within the evacuated space of the magnetron and the motor (11) in situated outside said space. The drive torque of the motor is then transferred to the tuning element via a coupling (12) having two active parts situated one on each side of the evacuated envelope (17) of the magnetron. Such a coupling can only transfer a limited torque. According to the invention the magnetron comprises means for limiting the torque which can be transferred to the coupling (12), both upon starting and stopping, for example a torque limiter (21-26) between the motor (11) and the coupling (12), whereby the start and stop procedures can be performed with optimum torque. Therefore starting and stopping of the tuning element (10), for example when switching between different fixed frequencies, can be made with maximum speed (FIG. 3).

    摘要: A continuously tunable multicavity klystron and gang tuning apparatus therefor includes a separate tuning element in association with each klystron cavity resonator for setting the respective cavity resonant frequencies. A carriage which is translated in a generally straight line path in response to the rotation of a single tuning shaft carries a plurality of elongated deformable metal bands. These bands are variable pitch cams that are followed by cam followers coupled to the tuning elements for each of cavity resonators. Each deformable band is supported on the carriage at several discrete points along the band length, and adjustment screws are provided for setting the band height and consequent tuning element contour. Such adjustment compensates for the nonlinear tuning characteristic of the cavity resonators in order to thereby obtain a resultant substantially linear cavity resonant frequency versus tuning shaft rotation characteristic. Because of the deformable nature of the bands, a smooth and continuous cam surface is formed between these discrete points.
