摘要: An electrical converter unit and a method for reducing thermal stress of a power semiconductor switch, such as an IGBT, of an electrical converter unit, the electrical converter unit comprising at least a gate control circuit wherein the electrical converter unit controls an electrical motor. The method comprises determining load and estimating required motor current based on the determined load and/or a predetermined speed profile. The electrical converter unit has at least a first operating state and a second operating state. The second operating state is used if predetermined criteria is fulfilled, the predetermined criteria relating to at least one of the following: estimated required current, measured motor speed, temperature of the power semiconductor switch and/or electrical converter unit, temperature model of the power semiconductor switch and/or electrical converter unit. In the second operating state a lower switching frequency of the power semiconductor switch is used than in the first operating state, and in the second operating state a higher switching speed of the power semiconductor switch is used than in the first operating state.

摘要: In one embodiment, a power supply comprises: a conversion circuit that outputs an output voltage at a first end of a cable; a remote voltage sensor measures a load delivered voltage from a second end of the cable; a control logic, wherein the power conversion circuit regulates the output voltage based on a signal from the control logic; a current sensor that measures current flow through the cable; and a resistance measurement circuit that computes a resistance of the cable as a function of the load delivered voltage, the current flow and the output voltage. The control logic regulates the load delivered voltage based on a voltage drop calculated utilizing the resistance. The control logic detects a change in the resistance of the cable based on the load delivered voltage and dynamically updates a value of the resistance for calculating the voltage drop when the change exceeds a tolerance.

摘要: A method for assembling a module configured to limit power surge exposure to an electrical device may include providing a carrier configured to receive at least one electrical conductor and at least one surge protection component. A lug defining a hollow space is provided in a pocket of the carrier, and an electrical lead of a surge protection component and an electrical conductor are provided in the hollow space of the lug. The method includes crimping the lug onto the electrical lead of the surge protection component and the electrical conductor such that the electrical lead and the electrical conductor are physically and electrically coupled to one another. The carrier may include multiple pockets receiving multiple lugs, and the multiple lugs may be crimped substantially simultaneously to physically and electrically couple corresponding pairs of electrical leads and conductors.

摘要: The present disclosure is directed to methods and apparatus that may collect information relating to a group of electrical power distribution wires, commonly referred to as an electrical branch circuit. Such methods can controllably cause a circuit breaker to open (clear) while keeping the branch circuit loaded within a predetermined set of parameters or specifications. Apparatus consistent with the present disclosure may use multiple high power resistive elements of different resistance values that are selectively connected to the branch circuit in a manner that provides a configurable limit to an available fault current when data relating to the branch circuit are collected and evaluated. Such methods can provide a positive indication to an electrician that allows the electrician to know that a particular electrical circuit has been de-energized before the electrician works on that particular electrical circuit.
