    摘要: The length of a transmission line delay circuit is halved by inserting a directional coupler in the signal path ahead of the transmission line and either open circuiting or short circuiting the other end of the transmission line. The signal traveling through the directional coupler and through the transmission line is reflected back at the end of the transmission line, and the reflected signal is carried to the coupled output of the directional coupler. Since the signal travels through the transmission line twice, the delay time is doubled. Therefore, for a given delay requirement, the length of transmission line required is only half of the length required for prior art transmission delay lines.

    摘要: A wafer of lithium niobate metallized on both major surfaces is bonded to a magnesium aluminate spinel bulk acoustic delay line. The lithium niobate layer is divided into two separate electrically and mechanically isolated transducers using ion beam milling. The bulk acoustic delay line has a surface arranged to reflect a propagating acoustic wave generated by one of the divided transducers to the other of the transducers, the one transducer serving as an input and the other as an output. The acoustic delay line is suitable for broad band operation at microwave frequencies with at least 50 db isolation between the two ports.

    摘要: Guided elastic waves are propagated in a waveguide, including a central core region and an outer cladding region. The bulk shear elastic wave velocity in the cladding region is larger than in the core region. The thickness of the cladding region is sufficient so that the particle displacement profile falls nearly to zero before reaching the outer surface of the cladding region. The waveguide is mounted in any suitable medium for protecting it against external mechanical shock and for providing any necessary mechanical support therefor. Different guide configurations and both torsional mode and radial mode transducers are shown.

    摘要: An ultrasonic delay line having an ultrasonic beam path with a plurality, preferably seven, reflection points, and comprising a body of lead silicate glass and a transmitting transducer and a receiving transducer. The body has top and bottom major surfaces substantially parallel to each other, first and second side surfaces which are substantially rectangular in shape and substantially at right angles to the top and bottom major surfaces, a third side surface substantially at a right angle to both the top major surface and the first side surface, a fourth side surface which is substantially at an angle of 135* to the first side surface and supporting either the transmitting transducer or the receiving transducer thereon, and a fifth side surface substantially at an angle of 135* to the second side surface and supporting the other of the transmitting and the receiving transducers thereon. In the preferred form, the medium has a shape such that the length of the first and second side surfaces is about three times the length of the third side surface. The medium may have, at a portion adjacent the ultrasonic beam path, at least one hole and at least one diffusion layer zone which has a lower mechanical Q than that of the ultrasonic beam path, and said hole may have an inner wall provided with an ultrasonic adsorber.
