摘要: Embodiments feature families of rate allocation and rate control methods that utilize advanced processing of past and future frame/field picture statistics and are designed to operate with one or more coding passes. At least two method families include: a family of methods for a rate allocation with picture look-ahead; and a family of methods for average bit rate (ABR) control methods. At least two other methods for each method family are described. For the first family of methods, some methods may involve intra rate control. For the second family of methods, some methods may involve high complexity ABR control and/or low complexity ABR control. These and other embodiments can involve any of the following: spatial coding parameter adaptation, coding prediction, complexity processing, complexity estimation, complexity filtering, bit rate considerations, quality considerations, coding parameter allocation, and/or hierarchical prediction structures, among others.

摘要: A method for coding a video implemented in an encoder or a decoder, comprising: determining control point motion vectors, CPMVs, for a block according to affine inter-prediction, according to a preselected affine motion model, the block being an affine block; performing motion compensation for the block using a pixel-based motion vector field according to values of the CPMVs, upon fulfilling at least one of the following conditions: A) for a predefined size of a sub-block of M×M, during processing of one line, respectively, of the sub-block the number of lines of the reference picture is less than N, where N is an integer and N is larger than 2.

摘要: An example method of decoding video data includes obtaining, from a coded video bitstream and for a current block of the video data, an indication of an intra-prediction mode that identifies an initial predictive block; filtering, in parallel, samples in a current line of a plurality of lines of the initial predictive block based on filtered values of samples in a preceding line of the plurality of lines and unfiltered values of samples in the current line to generate filtered values for samples for the current line; and reconstructing, using intra prediction, values of samples of the current block based on the filtered values of the samples of the current initial predictive block and residual data for the current block that represents a difference between the filtered values of the samples of the current initial predictive block and the values of samples of the current block.

摘要: The present invention relates to an image encoding and decoding technique, and more particularly, to an image encoder and decoder using unidirectional prediction. The image encoder includes a dividing unit to divide a macro block into a plurality of sub-blocks, a unidirectional application determining unit to determine whether an identical prediction mode is applied to each of the plurality of sub-blocks, and a prediction mode determining unit to determine a prediction mode with respect to each of the plurality of sub-blocks based on a determined result of the unidirectional application determining unit.

摘要: Various schemes pertaining to pre-encoding processing of a video stream with motion compensated temporal filtering (MCTF) are described. An apparatus determines a filtering interval for a received raw video stream having pictures in a temporal sequence. The apparatus selects from the pictures a plurality of target pictures based on the filtering interval, as well as a group of reference pictures for each target picture to perform pixel-based MCTF, which generates a corresponding filtered picture for each target picture. The apparatus subsequently transmits the filtered pictures as well as non-target pictures to an encoder for encoding the video stream. Subpictures of natural images and screen content images are separately processed by the apparatus.

摘要: The coding efficiency of scalable video coding is increased by substituting missing spatial intra prediction parameter candidates in a spatial neighborhood of a current block of the enhancement layer by use of intra prediction parameters of a co-located block of the base layer signal. By this measure, the coding efficiency for coding the spatial intra prediction parameters is increased due to the improved prediction quality of the set of intra prediction parameters of the enhancement layer, or, more precisely stated, the increased likelihood, that appropriate predictors for the intra prediction parameters for an intra predicted block of the enhancement layer are available thereby increasing the likelihood that the signaling of the intra prediction parameter of the respective enhancement layer block may be performed, on average, with less bits.

摘要: Scalable video coding is rendered more efficient by deriving/selecting a subblock subdivision to be used for enhancement layer prediction, among a set of possible subblock subdivisions of an enhancement layer block by evaluating the spatial variation of the base layer coding parameters over the base layer signal. By this measure, less of the signalization overhead has to be spent on signaling this subblock subdivision within the enhancement layer data stream, if any. The subblock subdivision thus selected may be used in predictively coding/decoding the enhancement layer signal.

摘要: A method is provided to better detect a scene change to provide a prediction to an encoder to enable more efficient encoding. The method uses a Motion Compensated Temporal Filter (MCTF) that provides motion estimation and is located prior to an encoder. The MCTF provides a Motion Compensated Residual (MCR) used to detect the scene change transition. When a scene is relatively stable, the MCR score is also relatively stable. However, when a scene transition is in process, the MCR score behavior changes, Algorithmically, the MCR score is used by comparing the sliding mean of the MCR score to the sliding median. This comparison highlights the transition points. In the case of a scene cut, the MCR score exhibits a distinct spike. In the case of a fade or dissolve, the MCR score exhibits a transitional period of degradation followed by recovery. By implementing the above detection using the MCR, the location of the I-pictures in the downstream encoding process can be accurately determined for the encoder.

摘要: Techniques related to temporal noise reduction in captured video are discussed. Such techniques include performing motion estimation on a portion of a downsampled current frame performed during the downsampling of the current frame, replacing one or more of the resultant motion vectors based on confidence scores of the resultant motion vector, and blending the current frame and a temporally previous frame to generate a temporally filtered current frame. The temporally filtered current frame may be displayed to a user and/or encoded to generate a bitstream.
