Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for producing esters of an acid component chosen from the multibasic C4-C10-carboxylic acids and an alcohol component chosen from C3-C12-alkanols or -alkanediols whose alkyl chain can be interrupted by 1 to 3 oxygen atoms. Sad method comprises the following steps: a) a mixture consisting essentially of the acid component or an anhydride thereof and the alcohol component is heated to boiling in a reaction zone in the presence of an esterification catalyst; b) the vapours containing alcohol and water are separated into a fragment that is rich in alcohol and a fragment that is rich in water by rectification; and c) the alcohol-rich fraction is fed back into the reaction zone, while the water-rich fraction is extracted from the process. The inventive method is simple to carry out and allows the rapid adjustment of an essentially quantitative conversion.
Abstract:

[In the formulae, A is -OH, -OM (wherein M is an alkali metal), or -N(R )R (wherein R and R are each H, C1-6 alkyl, optionally substituted phenyl, or the like); R is H, C1-6 alkyl, C1-6 alkylcarbonyl, carboxyl, C1-12 alkoxycarbonyl, optionally substituted phenylcarbonyl, or the like; n is 0 to 4; and X is Cl, Br, or I, or alternatively nR's may be present on benzene -constituting carbon atoms adjacent to each other and form a C3-4 alkylene- or C3-4 alkenylene-fused ring.]
Abstract:
Phthalic diester derivatives of the following general formula (I) and electron donors which contain the derivatives as the active ingredient and are to be used as solid catalysts for the polymerization of olefins can not only give highly stereoregular polymers with an extremely high activity or yield but also exhibit a high response to hydrogen: wherein R is C1-8 alkyl or halogeno; R and R may be the same or different from each other and are each C1-12 alkyl; and n represents the number of R (s) and is 1 or 2, with the proviso that when n is 2, R s may be the same or different from each other.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for carrying out a balanced reaction, comprising the following steps: a) a low-boiling educt (E2) which is gaseous in the reaction conditions is guided through a separate, liquid, higher-boiling educt (E1) in a bubble reactor and b) unreacted educt (E2) is conveyed to a membrane module together with the product to be separated (P1), which is also in gaseous form, as feed. Said membrane module is located outside of the reactor and is suitable for vapour permeation. In said membrane module, P1 is separated off as permeate whilst E2 is recovered as retentate and returned to the reactor in a circuit until the desired quantity of educt (E1) has been converted into the target product. The method is characterised in that carbonyl compounds of formula (I) R -(CO)n1-(B)m-(CO)n2-R are used as (E1), B representing an optionally hydroxy- and/or carboxy-substituted alk(en)yl radical with 1 to 12 carbon atoms which is also optionally interrupted by an ether oxygen, a phenyl radical or a carbonyl group, R and R representing hydrogen or a hydroxyl or alkyl radical with 1 to 12 carbon atoms independently of each other or forming a saturated or unsaturated aliphatic C5 or C6 ring together with at least one carbonyl group, said ring being optionally substituted with C1-C4 alkyl and/or hydroxy and the sum of n1 and n2 being either 1 or 2 and m being 0 or 1, and in that aliphatic alcohols with 2 to 8 carbon atoms are used as (E2).
Abstract:
A process for producing esters from organic carboxylic acids and/or anhydrides thereof and C4-18 alcohols wherein the reaction time is shortened by elevating the reaction rate at the initial stage of the reaction and the energy cost is reduced thereby bringing about an economical advantage. The above process is characterized in that the reaction is effected under a pressure of 0.02 to 5 kg/cm and the feedstock alcohol is supplied within a temperature range from a temperature lower by 20 DEG C than the boiling p oint of the alcohol under the pressure in the reactor to the boiling point thereof.

Abstract:
Monoesters and macrocyclic diesters of 2,2,4-trimethyl-1,3-pentanediol and phthalic acid or a derivative thereof are described. Methods by which such monoesters and diesters may be prepared are also described. The mono- and diesters according to the invention are useful in the preparation of clear, hard thermoplastic polymers. The thermoplastic polymers are useful in coatings, inks, reinforced plastics and packaging materials.
