Abstract:
The present invention relates to a sizing composition for insulating products based on mineral wool, especially glass wool or rock wool, which comprises at least one monosaccharide and/or at least one polysaccharide, and at least one organic polycarboxylic acid having a molecular mass equal to or less than 1000. The subject of the invention is also the mineral-fibre-based insulating products obtained and the process for manufacturing them.
Abstract:
A polyurethane adhesive which is useful in bonding porous and non-porous surfaces is provided. The adhesive is especially useful in bonding windshield glass into automotive frames under a variety of environmental conditions, particularly in after market windshield replacement applications. The polyurethane includes at least one urethane prepolymer which is based on at least one thermoplastic polyol. In one embodiment, the urethane prepolymer may be formed from one or more polyisocyanates, one or more polyetherpolyols and one or more thermoplastic polyesterpolyols, wherein the prepolymer has a free isocyanate content of from about 0.6 to about 3.5 % by weight, based on the weight of the polyurethane. Also provided is a process for bonding two or more substrates together utilizing the polyurethane adhesive. In automotive windshield replacement applications, the polyurethane adhesive allows for a sufficient working time and development of green strength to provide a safe drive-away time within 1 hour at a temperature from about 0 to about 100 °C.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a particulate binding agent composition comprising at least one natural or synthetic polysaccharide and at least one synthetic water dispersible polymer. The amount of particles having a diameter of less than 30 mu m is less than 1 wt. % and the free fibre content in 5mg of the binding agent composition is at least 40. The invention also relates to a method for the production and the use thereof.
Abstract:
The present invention provides adhesive and binder compositions comprising a potato peel product characterized on a dry solids basis by at least 30% starch, at least 5% protein and at least 2% fibers.
Abstract:
Roofing insulation and roofing elastomeric membranes are secured with a moisture-curable urethane roofing adhesive composition by spatter applying the roofing adhesive composition at an application rate of between about 10 and about 18 grams per square foot. Spatter application of the adhesive diminishes show-through (aesthetics) of the cured adhesive, while providing superior performance.
Abstract:
The invention concerns a carbonate and/or bicarbonate adhesive composition in solid powder form comprising a mixture of: about 75 to 99 wt. % of at least one water-soluble adhesive polymer; about 1 to 25 wt. % of an alkaline element or ammonium carbonate and/or bicarbonate; and optionally an organic acid. The invention also concerns a method for controlling mites present or likely to be present in the vicinity of wall coatings inside dwellings using said adhesive compositions.
Abstract:
A free radical-curable epoxy composition comprises epoxy resin and a copolymerizable material including a monomer having amide, acrylamide, or hydroxyl functionality, and is advantageously devoid of any cationic catalyst ingredient.
