Abstract:
A system and method are provided for automatically provisioning auser's telephone service (e.g., a complementary network service).A request to add, change or disconnect a service element or feature is received at a web server (104), telephone server (102) or other entry point (e.g., resubmit server) (106). A generic order object is created to identiy the service feature(s) to be affected, how it is to be provisioned, the user's service provider (e.g., LEC (Local Exchange Carrier), wireless carrier) and may provide additional information needed to complete the provisioning. The generic order object is automatically converted into a form specific to the provider. When a response is recieved from the service provider, the system may update the status of the order to indicate success, notify the user of the order status, re-submit an order that was unsuccessful, notify an operator if intervention is required, initiate resubmission of the order, etc.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a system, with an available server (1), accessed by an IP-based communication network and, furthermore, by means of which access can be made to a telecommunication controller (11). The aim of the invention is to make the management of the telecommunication connections (13) on the telecommunication controller (1), by means of the IP-based communication network, in other words, internet or intranet, easier. A time controller is arranged on the server (1), which automatically alters settings in the telecommunication controller (11), based on the data held in a data bank (3) on the server (1).
Abstract:
In one embodiment, the system includes a processor (referred to herein as a tandem access controller) connected to the PSTN which would allow anyone to directly provision, that is to say set-up and make immediate changes to, the configuration of his or her phone line. In another embodiment, a tandem access controller (TAC) subsystem is connected internally to the PSTN in a local service area. The TAC provides features, selected by the subscriber, to all edge switches connected to the PSTN tandem switch. In one embodiment, the TAC is controlled by the subscriber using the web.
Abstract:
A video teleconferencing method for providing reservationless conferencing. The method involves creating a conference profile (270); identifying selected connection parameters; allocating a dial-number (272); notifying participants (274, 276); determining if sufficient resources for the participant are available (284); and connecting (288) the requesting participant into the reservationless conference. Additionally, the video teleconferencing method allows the conference time to be automatically extended. This is done using timers and reallocating available resources when the original end of conference time arrives. The method also enables the conference to automatically terminate (286) after all conference participants leave the conference.
Abstract:
Systems and methods for personalizing a data network appliance on a data network telephony system are provided. An appliance customization attribute is provided by a user to a data network appliance, such as a data network telephone. The appliance customization attribute indicates the user's desired configuration for the data network appliance. For example, the user may specify a particular audio clip, such as one that states the user's name, to be played when the data network appliance receives an incoming call for the user. Similarly, the data network appliance may be customized to play a music clip when the user is placed on hold during a call. In a preferred embodiment, the appliance customization attribute is stored on a portable information device, such as a PDA (Personal Digital Assistant). When the user wishes to become registered to a particular data network appliance, the user may cause the portable information device to transmit the appliance customization attribute to the data network appliance to personalize the data network appliance.
Abstract:
A method of configuring a service (SE) for a mobile station (MS). The mobile station (MS) is able to store directory entries (DE) comprising a name field (41) and telephone number field (42). A service configuration application (SC) receives (2-2) the user's preference information and generates (2-4) a service configuration string (310). It formats (2-6') a directory entry (DE) such that its name field (41) comprises a service description (312) and the telephone number field (42) comprises the configuration string (310). The directory entry (DE) is stored (2-10) to the mobile station (MS). One of several predefined configuration strings may be selected (5-2) by means of the name field (41). The service (SE) can be configured by placing a call (5-4) to the configuration string stored in the telephone number field.
Abstract:
System and procedure for implementing an answering service in a telecommunication network (1) comprising a short-message service centre (SMSC) for receiving, storing and sending a short message, an electronic mail service base (6) for receiving, storing and sending an electronic mail message, a mobile services switching centre (MSC) and data terminal equipment (DTE). According to the invention, an answering server (2) automatically answers calls and/or electronic mail addressed by an A-subscriber to a B-subscriber, in accordance with fields stored in the B-subscriber's calendar database (3) if the B-subscriber cannot be reached.
Abstract:
The invention relates to an apparatus and a method for controlling basic and supplementary subscriber service in a digital telephone exchange (3). The invention provides an Internet server (2) connected to the digital telephone exchange (3) in such a way that the server (2) can control the supplementary subscriber service system (5) in accordance with instructions received from a subscriber via an Internet access (7). The Internet access (7) may be provided in the form of a web browser (1). The invention provides a more user friendly interface to the supplementary subscriber service system (5) compared to the usual depressing of pushbuttons on the telephone apparatus in response to requests and/or messages in the form of stored voice messages from the digital telephone exchange (3).
Abstract:
An interactive directory (Fig. 2) provided for a workstation (110) having connected video monitor (132) and adapted for network access has an interactive display for displaying status for individual entities, being persons and organizations. Entities are listed in the display along with status for each entity (Fig. 2). There may be multiple fields for status, and some fields display telephone numbers, while others may provide alphanumeric display (Fig. 2). A remote contact address is stored and associated with each directory entity, and when the directory is active, the workstation (110) accesses status information from network sources associated with individual directory listings.
Abstract:
A language properties matrix of rules (8) is added to the voice response unit (15) of an enhanced services system facilitating the addition of new languages and/or the modification of an existing language by changes in the rules rather than by requiring specific changes in a large and diverse number of areas in the enhanced services system. A method is also disclosed.
