Abstract:
Method and system for enabling different information-containing units such as advertisements, to be included in or otherwise presented in conjunction with broadcast content so that individuals receiving the same content can be presented with different information. A suitable information unit for each individual is independently selected based on information about each user. For example, when the broadcast content is on multiple channels and the user's terminal is receiving content on one channel having information that is not suitable for that user, the individual's terminal may be directed to switch to another channel selected from among a plurality of different channels based on the user's settings, profile and/or rules. As such, the information, or data units, being provided to each user can be customized thereby providing an extremely effective form of direct and targeted advertising in the broadcast of various content, such as television programs, radio programs, data, videos and audio.
Abstract:
An application for a client device which is arranged to receive and render selected video streams including content indicators relating to content to be rendered at a given location on a screen of the client device is disclosed. The application responds to user interaction with a rendered stream at rendered locations of the content to store an indicator of the user's interest in the content. The application then cooperates with an analyzer, arranged to analyse the user's interest in the content, and responds to the interest satisfying business logic by providing an indication of an interaction opportunity to the user of the client device during the rendering of the video stream.
Abstract:
A digital broadcast network is disclosed that can divide an application into multiple channels to be distributed to receiving devices. A receiving device can selectively accept one or more of the multiple channels depending on various criteria including selection parameters and device capability. The selective choice of at least a subset of the application can provide an acceptable depth and delivery of data to improve the user experience. Text and standard data experiences can be combined with an audio counterpart, with pre-loaded client-side media files, and/or with pre-loaded client-side media files and a live audio stream, which can enrich a user experience.
Abstract:
The present invention allows users to interact with people, who have interacted with other people, and obtain media files and recommendations from those having common interests, thereby creating interactive media communities and spawning electronic social networks based on media and other types of electronic entertainment.
Abstract:
Embodiments include methods and apparatus for personalizing access to broadcast content items. One embodiment includes a method comprising detecting physical proximity of a mobile device, receiving data from the mobile device identifying a user of the mobile device, identifying at least one local profile based on the data identifying the user, identifying at least one content item accessed by the user on the mobile device, updating the local profile based on the identified content item, and delivering content items to the user by reference to the user profile. Other embodiments include systems and apparatus configured to perform the method and related functions.
Abstract:
A server, said server configured to receive information from a user equipment regarding interaction of the user with media content by a user of said user equipment; using said information to define preferences for said users; using said defined preferences to determine media content to be provided to said user, and transmitting information on said determined media content to said user equipment.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to providing packaged programming for use on electronic media players. In particular, the present invention relates to providing entertainment programming packaged together with advertising, in downloadable form, for use on electronic media players. The service may be supported by subscription fees, by advertising fees, are a combination thereof. The service provider, in turn, uses a portion of the moneys generated for operating expenses and profit, as well as to pay pre-negotiated royalty fees to the copyright owners of the aforementioned programming.
Abstract:
Set top box logs are received from a television provider and processed to compensate for broadcast latency and generate normalized log data, e.g., log data that are indexed to a relative time. Channel tunes and the channel tune times of the normalized log data can be compared to expected air times of television advertisements on channels, and an impression values, e.g., projected viewers, can be generated for each television advertisement.
Abstract:
Various embodiments of the present invention enable a bottom up analysis approach that derives physiological responses from measured physiological data of viewers of a media, and calculates scores of instances of an event type based on the physiological responses. The scores are then aggregated to rate the event type in addition to scoring the individual event instances. The approach can also form an overall rating of the media by aggregating the event ratings of set of event types within the media.
