Abstract:
Described herein are engineered microalgae that exhibit enhanced lipid production during exponential growth. Such engineered microalgae are useful, for example, for the production of biofuels.
Abstract:
The invention relates to the identification, sequencing, and isolation of an A25 bacteriophage lysin gene that expresses a protein involved in the lysis of bacterial cells during the phage life cycle. The invention further relates to methods for lysing certain bacteria using lysin, which are useful for example in a diagnostic procedure designed to detect these bacteria.
Abstract:
One aspect of the present invention relates to a method of preparing radio fluorinated substituted alkyl, cycloalkyl, aryl, and alkenyl compounds. In a preferred embodiment, potassium fluoride-18 is used. Another aspect of the invention relates to arylammonium compounds containing fluorine-18 that are useful as imaging agents. In certain embodiments, the ammonium compound is a tetraaryl ammonium salt. Another aspect of the invention relates to arylsulfonium compounds containing fluorine-18 that are useful as imaging agents. In certain embodiments, the sulfonium compound is a triaryl sulfonium salt. Another aspect of the present invention relates to a method of obtaining a positron emission image of a mammal, comprising the steps of administering to a mammal a compound of the invention, and acquiring a positron emission spectrum of the mammal.
Abstract:
Provided are improved, quantitative methods for determining whether a subject is likely to respond to a breast cancer therapy, methods for selecting breast cancer therapies and methods for diagnosis and prognosis of breast cancer in subjects.
Abstract:
Provided herein are peptides and nucleic acids encoding the peptides, pharmaceutical compositions comprising the nucleic acids and proteins and methods for using the pharmaceuticals to treat or prevent endometriosis in a subject.
Abstract:
A sample processing tubule may include a first segment, a second segment, and a third segment. Each segment may be defined by the tubule, may be fluidly isolated, at least in part by a breakable seal, may be so expandable as to receive a volume of fluid expelled from another segment, and may be so compressible as to contain substantially no fluid when so compressed. Each segment may contain at least one reagent.
Abstract:
The present invention provides novel panels of molecular targets that are differentially expressed during CD8+ T cell priming. The novel panels of the invention may be used, for example, in therapeutic intervention, therapeutic agent screening, and in diagnostic methods for diseases and/or disorders of the immune system.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to tolerogenic dendritic cells (DCs) and methods for enriching for these cells in tissue preparations and using the cells for preventing or minimizing transplant rejection or for treating or preventing an autoimmune disease.
Abstract:
The present invention features novel placental derived stem cells and provides methods and compositions for the therapeutic uses of placental derived stem cells or placental derived stem cells that have been induced to differentiate into a desired tissue type into a recipient host in amounts sufficient to result in production of the desired cell type, i.e. , hepatic, pancreatic, neurinal, or nervous tissue.
Abstract:
The present invention provides compounds, specifically novel tropane analogs, capable of acting as inhibitors of reuptake of monoamines. In preferred embodiments, these compositions are selective inhibitors of serotonin and/or norepinephrine reuptake. Also provided herein are pharmaceutical compositions comprising novel tropane analogs and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier, and methods for treating conditions in which inhibition of reuptake of monoamines is desired. The inventive compositions as described herein are also useful for medical therapy and diagnosis.
