Abstract:
The invention provides methods for analyzing a patient's potential for achieving ongoing pregnancy with respect to a specific fertility treatment. The methods involve obtaining a sample containing microorganisms from an individual, identifying a number of specific microorganisms present in an individual, and comparing these microorganisms to those known to be associated with reproductive success. The individual is then informed of her or his potential reproductive success based upon the results of the comparison.
Abstract:
The present invention includes a novel method and system for identification of microorganisms in samples that proteins and other biological material from non-microorganism sources (e.g., proteins of mammalian origin) that can interfere with identification of the microorganisms. The methods and systems described herein include use of a single-use chromatography medium to purify intact proteins prior to mass spectrometry analysis. The chromatography medium and the methods described herein can rapidly and efficiently remove of a substantial portion of interfering biological material (e.g., mammalian proteins) from a crude cell lysate while preserving high signal strength and removing enough of the interfering protein(s) to allow for identification of the microorganism(s) by mass spectrometry analysis.
Abstract:
Anti-CaENO1 antibodies and humanized antibodies are provided as an effective diagnostic agent or a therapeutic treatment against infections caused by Candida spp., preferably Candida albicans, Candida tropicalis, fluconazole resistance Candida spp., Strepcococcus, Staphylococcus.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to synthetic saccharides of general formula (I) that are related to Streptococcus pneumoniae serotype 4 capsular polysaccharide and conjugates thereof. Said conjugate and a pharmaceutical composition containing said conjugate are useful for prevention and/or treatment of diseases associated with Streptococcus pneumoniae, and more specifically of diseases associated with Streptococcus pneumoniae serotype 4. Furthermore, the synthetic saccharides of general formula (I) are useful as marker in immunological assays for detection of antibodies against Streptococcus pneumoniae bacteria.
Abstract:
An immunoassay test apparatus, including : a label signal sensor that detects label signals emitted by at least one label conjugated to an antibody or antigen of an immunoassay test device such as a lateral flow test strip or microfluidic cartridge, and outputs sensor data representing the detected label signals; a label imaging component that processes the sensor data to generate label data representing spatial locations of the detected label signals; a test result image generator that processes the label data to generate test result image data representing a visual image of the spatial arrangement of the detected label signals; and a display component that displays the test result image to a user of the immunoassay test apparatus to enable the user to evaluate the result of the immunoassay test.
Abstract:
According to aspects illustrated herein, there are provided a sensor chip suitable for serological detection of Streptococcus pneumoniae, a method for detecting serotypes of Streptococcus pneumoniae using the sensor chip, a detection system that includes the sensor chip, and a method for detecting serotypes of Streptococcus pneumoniae using the detection system described herein.
Abstract:
In some aspects, provided are methods relating to the use of bacterial N-methyl-2 superfamily proteins as a biomarker for the presence of bacteria in a sample. The invention also relates to novel methods of diagnosis of the presence of bacteria in a liquid or solid sample, detection of bacterial infections in humans or animals, and use of antibodies or other specific binding molecules capable of binding to N-methyl-2 superfamily proteins.
Abstract:
Immunogenic compositions are provided herein that are useful for inducing an immune response specific against group A streptococcus (GAS). Immunogenic compositions provided herein are multivalent and comprise a plurality of immunogenic peptides or fusion polypeptides comprising the immunogenic peptides that induce an immune response against GAS. The immunogenic compositions provided herein induce an immune response against the GAS serotypes represented by an immunogenic peptide (derived from an M protein or Spa protein) comprised within the immunogenic composition and also induce an immune response against serotypes that are unrepresented by any immunogenic peptide included in the immunogenic composition. Methods for using the compositions for inducing an immune response against GAS and for treating or reducing the likelihood of occurrence of a GAS infection are also provided.
Abstract:
This invention provides a method of identifying GAS infection as the cause of a neuropsychiatric or behavioural disorder in a patient, or of identifying a patient at risk of developing a neuropsychiatric or behavioural disorder caused by GAS infection. This invention also provides associated protein arrays.
