Abstract:
Compositions and methods are provided for the introduction and the regulated expression of genes in plants. Compositions include promoter constructs that provide a level of activity useful for the regulated expression of site-specific recombinases, while avoiding premature excision. Further provided are isolated polynucleotides encoding novel babyboom polypeptides, expression cassettes, and plants comprising the same. Methods for the introduction of genes into plants are provided, including methods for plastid transformation and methods for the transformation of tissues from mature seeds and leaves.
Abstract:
A variety of methods and compostions are provided, including methods and compositions for targeted modification of a specific target site in a cell or organism, methods for integrating polynucleotides of interest, methods to assess promoter activity, directly select transformed organisms, minimize or eliminate expression resulting from random integration into the genome of an organism, such as a plant, remove polynucleotides of interest, combine multiple transfer cassettes, invert or excise a polynucleotide, silence a gene, and identify and/or characterize transcriptional regulating regions. The methods involve the introduction of a cell proliferation factor and a double-strand break-inducing enzyme into an organism.
Abstract:
Semi-synthetic glycopeptides having antibacterial activity are described, in particular, the semi-synthetic glycopeptides described herein are made by chemical modification of the a glycopeptide (Compound A, Compound B, Compound H or Compound C) or the monosaccharide made by hydrolyzing the disaccharide moiety of the amino acid-4 of the parent glycopeptide in acidic medium to give the amino acid-4 monosaccharide; conversion of the monosaccharide to the amino-sugar derivative; acylation of the amino substituent on the amino acid-4 amino-substituted sugar moiety on these scaffolds with certain acyl groups; conversion of the amide group in amino acid-3 on these scaffolds to various acylamide, acylsulfonamide, acylsulfonylurea derivatives; aminomethylation with substituent containing sulfonamide or acylsulfonamide group on amino acid -7 through Mannich reaction; and conversion of the acid moiety on the macrocyclic ring of these scaffolds to certain substituted amides. Also provided are methods for the synthesis of the compounds, pharmaceutical compositions containing the compounds, and methods of use of the compounds for the treatment and/or prophylaxis of diseases, especially bacterial infections.
Abstract:
The present application discloses methods for identifying inhibitors with high binding-affinity for the carbonic anhydrase-IX (CA-IX) enzyme using click chemistry and uses the candidates thereof as positron emission tomography (PET) imaging agents.
Abstract:
The present application is directed to radiolabeled cyclic peptidomimetics, pharmaceutical compositions comprising radiolabeled cyclic peptidomimetics, and methods of using the radiolabeled cyclic peptidomimetics. Such peptidomimetics can be used in imaging studies, such as Positron Emitting Tomography (PET) or Single Photon Emission Computed Tomography (SPECT).
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a supported catalyst composition for polymerization of olefins comprising at least two catalytic components; and a polymerization process using that catalyst composition; and a method for its preparation.
Abstract:
The present invention is concerned with certain novel spiro substituted heterocyclic ring derivatives. These compounds may be useful in the manufacture of pharmaceutical compositions for treating disorders mediated by lipoxygenase. They may also be useful in the manufacture of pharmaceutical formulations for the treatment of lipoxygenase-mediated disorders.
Abstract:
The present invention relates generally to the field of chemical/mechanical polishing of substrates. In particular the invention relates to methods of producing improved membranes for use in chemical/mechanical polishing systems. The present invention provides a method of improving the properties of a flexible membrane for use in chemical/mechanical polishing, the method including subjecting the membrane to elevated temperatures.
Abstract:
A video display device comprising a display to display a primary image, originating from a first input signal, and a picture-in-picture (PIP) overlaying the primary image and originating from a second input signal. The display characteristics of the PIP are changed in response to information, preferably a file extension, relating to the type of the first input signal in order to obscure as little as possible of the important parts of the primary image. In case the primary image contains much visual information the PIP is chosen small, positioned in the periphery of the display and/or transparent. In case the primary image contains little visual information the PIP is chosen large, centered and/or non-transparent. Useful for Integrated Digital TV cum Broadband TV (IDTV-BBTV) devices, where the primary image is a broadband image and the PIP is a TV image.
Abstract:
A process for making an insulating glass assembly is disclosed, the process including applying a sealant composition to a surface of a spacer; contacting the sealant composition with a glass pane, and applying pressure on the glass pane to bond the glass pane to the spacer through the sealant composition, the pressure being applied at an ambient temperature of from about 15 °C to about 60 °C.
