Abstract:
A method and apparatus for generating a personalized radio channel playlist by time division multiplexing songs from multiple received channels from one or more broadcast source streams in a queue. Users can specify favorite channels for building their personal playlists, or multiple default playlist channels can be provided by genre. If matches are found, the channel carrying the favorite is extracted and added to the playlist. Channel searching for matches involves monitoring real-time song and artist labels for all channels carried in a separate data channel. Preview times can vary depending on the size of the playlist or number of channels used. During a preview of a segment, users can, opt to listen to the full song or back up in the playlist to listen to a previous song. Connectivity options and web interfaces are provided to facilitate transfer and sharing of customization parameters for personalized radio configuration.
Abstract:
A method for providing an additional information of a digital broadcasting application is disclosed. In accordance with the method of the present invention, a base information of a broadcast program and the additional information dynamically extracted based on the base information for a personalization may be provided to a specific viewer or a specific viewer group.
Abstract:
Systems and/or methods are disclosed herein to identify a user interacting with a content presentation system, adaptively learn, in a passive manner, a user's pattern of accessing content over time, and globally store the user's identifying and use information. Specifically, the systems and/or methods may be user to identify a viewer of a content presentation system having a portable device with an actuator, operating the actuator by the viewer, obtaining biometric information via the actuator, and providing the biometric information to a content provider. The systems and/or methods may further include determining at the content provider an identification of the viewer based on the biometric information.
Abstract:
An apparatus, system, and method are disclosed to distribute digital media information to an end user through individual modules. The invention includes a central networked data point (802) controlling access to and manipulation of the digital media information for display at an end user display (806) and one or more content modules (1204), the one or more content modules (1204) providing access to digital media information at the end user display (806). Also included are a framework module (906) configured to assemble the one or more content modules (1204) into a framework definition forming a graphical user interface (GUI) (1202) for the end user display (806) and a framework modification module (908) configured to selectively include content modules (1204) in the framework definition. Beneficially, such an apparatus, system, and method would allow for the distribution of digital media along with easy modification of the type and configuration of the media displayed.
Abstract:
Viral marketing may be used in the delivery of broadcast content over networks such as DVB-H networks. By tracking and monitoring viewer recommendations and viewer responses to recommendations, content providers may target viewers and/or peer groups for marketing various types of content. Content may include advertisements, television programs, service announcements and the like. Feedback from viewers may be received on a user device through a backward or upstream channel. The viewers may be provided with a recommendation interface. In one or more configurations, the interface may be integrated into an electronic programming guide.
Abstract:
Various embodiments of the present invention create a novel system for rating an event in a media based on the strength of the emotions viewers feel towards the event. The viewer's responses to the media can be measured and calculated via physiological sensors. The metric for rating the strength of the media is created based on the mathematical coherence of change (up or down) of all pertinent physiological responses across multiple viewers. Such rating offers an objective ability to compare the strengths of events of the media, as there is a strong correlation between high coherence of physiological responses (all viewers feel the same thing at the same time) and strong ratings of emotionality, engagement, likeability, success in the marketplace/on screen.
Abstract:
Various embodiments of the present invention enable a bottom up analysis approach that derives physiological responses from measured physiological data of viewers of a media, and calculates scores of instances of an event type based on the physiological responses. The scores are then aggregated to rate the event type in addition to scoring the individual event instances. The approach can also form an overall rating of the media by aggregating the event ratings of set of event types within the media.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for enhancing television advertising viewership. Advertisers deliver content demographic and associated data as metadata along with content to a service that is in communication with a large number of multimedia devices. Each device supplies information to the service that tells about the user of the device's content viewing preferences. The service compares user information to content metadata to find content for the user. The service sends the selected content to the multimedia device. Advertisers whose content were downloaded to the multimedia device may be charged a fee for the download. The multimedia device sends statistics regarding the user's action when the user viewed the content to the service. The service charges a fee to advertisers that had their content viewed by the user.
Abstract:
A method and system for the control, aggregation, and management of television programming and Internet content (both traditional and video sources) and more specifically to the customization of media choices and content based in part on the dynamic editing of content according to user preferences. Affiliate Groups can be used to mark, recommend or provide selective editing of video and other media that can be received by users. Users may join Affiliate Groups and selectively view or have content automatically filtered from the data received in their premises such that the display of the media is less than all of the media received at the premises based on Affiliate Group recommendations. Menus and displays may be created that show preferred media content, additional content generated by the Affiliate Groups. Channel schedules may be pre-filtered or provide customized warnings about objectionable material.
Abstract:
A set top terminal is provided that includes a receiver/tuner for receiving programming content over a broadband communications network and a decoder for decoding the programming content provided by the receiver/tuner. The set top terminal also includes a database capable of storing a plurality of viewer profiles each containing at least one viewer preference associated with a registered viewer. The viewer preference reflects a programming or user configuration preference of the registered viewer. A processor is operationally associated with the receiver/tuner, the decoder, and the database and a user interface operationally associated with the processor. The processor is configured to operate in accordance with each of the viewer profiles.
