Abstract: Iodine-containing germicidal compositions are disclosed that remain physically stable for extended storage periods with little to no iodine complexing agent being present. The compositions employ a mixture of emollients, such as glycerin and ethoxylanolin, to create a composition that in certain embodiments presents a cloudy or emulsion-like appearance.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides a method that efficiently produces ( 6R )- tetrahydrobiopterin in high yield and purity. The method includes the step of hydrolyzing diacetylbiopterin to biopterin under basic conditions in a biphasic mixture comprising an organic phase and an aqueous phase. After substantially complete hydrolysis of diacetylbiopterin, the aqueous phase containing biopterin can be separated from the organic phase containing most of the organic impurities, which avoids the time-consuming step of isolating biopterin as a solid. The aqueous solution containing biopterin is stereoselectively hydrogenated to ( 6R )-tetrahydrobiopterin under basic conditions and high hydrogen pressure in the presence of a metal catalyst ( e.g. , a platinum catalyst). To improve the purification of an acid addition salt of ( 6R )-tetrahydrobiopterin ( e.g. , ( 6R )-tetrahydrobiopterin dihydrochloride), any residual salts ( e.g. , sodium salts) in the aqueous solution after the hydrogenation reaction can be removed by contacting the aqueous solution with an ion ( e.g. , cation) exchange resin or column. Alternatively, removal of residual salts from the aqueous solution can be omitted if an organic amine ( e.g. , diethylamine or triethylamine) rather than an inorganic base is used in the hydrolysis and/or hydrogenation reactions

Abstract: A near-field radar apparatus includes a fixed beam planar radar antenna (22, 24) and a radiation pattern adaptation device (16) disposed substantially at the near-field boundary of the antenna. The adaptation device (16) comprises a plurality of dielectric elements (26a, 26b; 28a, 28b) that individually constitute or approximate different surface portions of an idealized quasi-spherical or quasi-cylindrical radome reflector (26, 28). The dielectric elements (26a, 26b; 28a, 28b) can be maintained physically separate or combined about the diffraction point of the antenna to form a single dielectric element (36). The dielectric elements (26a, 26b; 28a, 28b) may be mounted on a radome (30) that is otherwise transparent to the radiation pattern, or otherwise suspended at or near the near-field boundary of the antenna (22, 24).

Abstract: High power inductively coupled plasma technology is used for thermal cracking and vaporization of continuously fed carbonaceous materials into elemental carbon, for reaction with separate and continuously fed metal catalysts inside a gas phase high temperature reactor system operating at or slightly below atmospheric pressures. In one particularly preferred embodiment, in flight growth of carbon nanomaterials is initiated, continued, and controlled at high flow rates, enabling continuous collection and product removal via gas/solid filtration and separation methods, and/or liquid spray filtration and solid collection methods suitable for producing industrial scale production quantities. In another embodiment, the reaction chamber and/or filtration/separation media include non catalytic or catalytic metals to simultaneously or separately induce on substrate synthesis and growth of carbon nanomaterials. The on substrate grown carbon nanomaterials are produced in secondary chambers that are selectively isolated for periodic removal of the product.
