Disclosed are a device and method for processing a virtual world. According to embodiments of the present invention, an angle value, which is obtained by measuring the angle of a body part of a user in the real world using characteristics of a bending sensor, is transferred to a virtual world to thereby implement an interaction between the real world and the virtual world. Also, based on the sensor characteristics and on the angle value obtained by sensing the angle of the body part, control information for controlling a part of an avatar corresponding to the body part is generated and transferred to the virtual world to thereby implement an interaction between the real world and the virtual world.

The present invention relates to a markerless augmented reality system, and to a method for operating same. The markerless augmented reality system extracts multiple pieces of plane information included in an image generated by a camera using three-dimensional information on the image, and estimates the posture of the camera using a relationship among the extracted multiple pieces of plane information.

An image processor, a lighting processor, and a method therefore are provided. According to one aspect of the invention, the lighting processor can extract information related to defuse lighting applied to a real object using a colored image and a depth image of the real object. The lighting processor can recover the diffuse image for the real object using the extracted information related to diffuse lighting, and generate either a speculum image or a shadow image using the recovered diffuse image and the colored image.
