Abstract:
A fiber to copper patch terminal includes selectively activated circuitry for controlling an associated transceiver to produce a condition where normal communication with a connected power patch panel module has been temporarily interrupted. The patch terminal includes a selectively activated location identification function. This function when activated causes the optical transceiver to transmit a location signal preferably during a period where communication is awaiting resetting. In a preferred embodiment the patch terminal is designed to transmit the location signal during a period where Ethernet communication as awaiting completion of a reset.

A method, Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) client, and WLAN Service Node (WSN) that allows an Extensible Authentication Protocol - Subscriber Information module (EAP-SIM) module of the WLAN client, which module may be wither downloaded from the Internet or pre-installed in the WLAN client, to extract user credentials from a Subscriber Information Module (SIM) card, and to package the credentials into the EAP-SIM format and further into the TCP/IP format, before sending them to the WSN via a serving Access Point (AP). The WSN receives the credentials and unpacks them from the TCP/IP format and further from the EAP-SIM format, and authenticates/authorizes the WLAN client. WLAN access is authorized for the WLAN client upon successful authorization.

Devices and methods for forming a tubular braid comprising a plurality of filaments are described. In one embodiment, the braiding machine includes a disc with a mandrel extending from the center in a perpendicular direction and a plurality of catch mechanisms arranged circumferentially around the edge of the disc. A plurality of filaments are temporarily affixed to the mandrel, each filament extending from the mandrel toward the edge of the disc and engaging the edge of the disc at a discrete point of engagement. The plurality of catch mechanisms are attached to actuators adapted to move the catch mechanisms in a generally radial direction relative to the edge of the disc to allow the catch mechanism to engage a subset of the filaments and move the engaged filaments beyond the circumferential edge of the disc.

A vehicle wheel includes a rim portion, a hub portion, a plurality of spokes and a plurality of decorative attachments. Each pair of adjacent spokes defines a window therebetween. The plurality of decorative attachments are secured to the wheel and each define a plurality of rearwardly extending boss portions. Each boss portion abuts the wheel. In certain applications, the boss portions may be received within a respective countersunk hole in the wheel and engaged by a fastener for securing the decorative attachment to the wheel. A free end of each of the boss portions abuts a bottom of its respective countersunk hole and the decorative attachment is otherwise spaced from the wheel to reduce noise issues. Alternatively, the ends of the boss portion may be spaced from the wheel and drawn toward the wheel with the threaded fasteners.

The invention relates to an alloy based on copper, zinc, nickel and manganese, having corrosion-resistance properties, such as resistance to inks and to gel inks. The inventive alloy can have a single-phase structure alpha and a two-phase structure alpha / beta . The invention is particularly suitable for the production of nibs and ink reservoirs for writing implements.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatus are provided for closing incisions within biological tissue. In one embodiment, a device and method are provided for suturing biological tissue, such as, for example, an organ or blood vessel. The suturing apparatus is particularly well suited for suturing an incision made in an artery, such as the femoral artery, following a catheterization procedure. The device eliminates the need to apply pressure to a patient's thigh for an extended period of time, and eliminates many of the complications and costs associated with the creation of a thrombus patch. In addition, the device comprises an improved handle portion which enables the physician to quickly and easily apply suture. The handle portion is very reliable and easy to manipulate. The suturing may be used in combination with existing catheter sheath introducers.
