Abstract: Among other things, there are disclosed apparatuses and methods for medically sealing an opening in a vessel or wall. For example, in medical applications, a delivery tube is provided for insertion through a sheath into a vessel (e.g. a blood vessel). A dome-shaped seal fixed to a filament, an absorbent and/or compressible buffer, and a locking member are provided in the delivery tube. The delivery tube is configured so that it can be inserted into the vessel through a sheath. Tension is maintained on the filament to hold the seal against the tube or sheath. The sheath is pulled out, which pulls out the tube at the same time, leaving the seal over the opening in the vessel wall. The locking member compresses the buffer against the outside of the vessel and with the filament holds the seal in place against the inside of a vessel.

Abstract: An introducer sheath includes a lubricious inner liner having a passageway extending longitudinally therethrough, a reinforcing member positioned over the inner liner, and an outer jacket positioned longitudinally over the reinforcing member and the inner liner. The outer jacket has a higher durometer proximal portion, a lower durometer distal portion, and a transition zone between the proximal portion and the distal portion. The transition zone has a variable durometer from a junction with the outer jacket proximal portion to a junction with the outer jacket distal portion, to provide a transition between the higher durometer proximal portion and the lower durometer distal portion.

Abstract: Delivery systems for self-expanding devices are provided having a system proximal portion with a handle, an elongate middle section delivery device with an outer sheath and inner compression member, and a system distal portion including an outer guide channel member with first and second end portions defining a guide channel that slidably receives an inner guide channel member having a guide channel, the guide channels being substantially aligned. A mounting region for self-expanding devices is disposed radially between the inner and outer guide channel members. The outer guide channel member has a stepped profile from a first outer diameter to a second smaller outer diameter located near a transition region having a breech position opening for passage of a wire guide, catheter, or other medical instrument. The outer member is axially slideable relative to the inner member to deploy a self-expanding device. Methods of using and manufacturing are also provided.

Abstract: A prosthesis (10) having a variable size or stretchable fenestration (14) in the graft material (37) of a biocompatible tubular graft (11). An expandable frame (16) is disposed about the fenestration, and a portion (17) of the graft material about the fenestration is folded back over the frame to cover the frame. Additional grafts or prosthesis of varying size can be inserted through the frame and fenestration with the stretched frame and folded portion compressing on the inserted graft forming a seal therewith.

Abstract: An apparatus for percutaneous catheterization. The apparatus comprises a catheter, and an inner cannula received within the lumen of the catheter. The inner cannula has a distal portion that tapers toward the distal end, and is sized to extend through the distal opening of the catheter to provide a generally smooth diametrical transition between the distal end of the catheter and the distal open end of the inner cannula. A stiffening cannula is sized to be received in the lumen of the inner catheter, and has an inner diameter sized to receive a wire guide therethrough. Abstract: Disclosed is a stent graft prosthesis (10) comprising a graft portion (11) that includes a main body portion (12) and an cuff portion (15), the cuff portion generally located at or near the proximal end (13) of the main body portion and extending circumferentially therealong. Stents comprising the graft suppporting structure (40) are also attached to graft portion about the proximal end. In one embodiment, the cuff portion comprises material (38) that is folded over the outside surface (39) of the main body portion with an anchoring stent (18) being attached over the cuff and main body portions, extending proximally therefrom. In another series of embodiments, the cuff portion comprises an external sealing zone (21) that extends around the outer main body portion to help prevent leakage of fluids. Abstract: A trigger wire release mechanism is disclosed that includes a control member for selectively releasing a trigger wire (22, 44) from a prosthesis retaining device. The control member includes an elongate body member (36) and a guide member (24, 25, 93, 94) slidably disposed on the elongate body member. The trigger wire 1 (22, 44) includes a distal end coupled to the prosthesis retaining device and a proximal end coupled to the guide member.
