Abstract:
Films comprising a liquid-absorbant layer and an impermeable layer are provided. Processes for manufacturing these films is also provided. The films are suitable for preparation of tubular casings and shrinkbags, in particular, casings for smoked foodstuffs. Also described are foodstuffs processed in the tubular casings.
Abstract:
Films comprising a liquid-absorbent layer with an adsorbed antimicrobial material and an impermeable layer are provided. The films can be suitable for preparation of tubular casings and shrinkbags such as casings for foodstuffs. Also disclosed are foodstuffs processed in the tubular casing comprising the antimicrobial material.
Abstract:
The invention relates to adhesive compositions having a modified polyethylene; an unmodified polyethylene of a certain density and a styrene-based elastomer. The styrene-based elastomer is present in a weight percentage of 10 to 45 wt. percent relative to the total weight of the elastomer plus the modified and unmodified polyethylenes. The adhesive composition is particularly useful in multilayer composite structures having polypropylene as one substrate and having bonded thereto a polyethylene or a layer which is made from an ethylene copolmer such as an ethylene/acid copolymer or an ethylene acid ionomer. In addition, the adhesive composition is particularly useful in multilayer structures having five layers wherein a single adhesive composition is needed as layer two and four and the other structural layers are, for example, polyethylene/nylon/polypropylene or similar structures which would heretofore require two different polyolefin base adhesives.
Abstract:
A polymeric film, multiple-compartment, pouch having an internal frangible seal for confining a fluid and related beverage container with a re-closable fitment for storing and delivering two different flavored liquids or the like. The frangible seal of the clear plastic pouch will burst when sustained squeezed thus allowing the flavors to swirl and mix within the pouch.
Abstract:
Moisture and gas permeable ionomeric films are described. The films described herein are obtained from blends of ionomers with an organic acid salt in the amount of at least about 5 wt%, and have MVTR greater than films obtained from conventional ionomers. Particularly preferred are the potassium salts of stearic, oleic, isostearic, and isooleic acids. Films comprising a liquid-absorbent ionomer film layer and an impermeable layer are provided. The films are suitable for preparation of tubular casings and shrinkbags, in particular, casings for smoked foodstuffs.
