Abstract:
The invention relates to a dental filling material mixture, in particular to a material mixture for filling root canals, containing (a) an epoxide and (b) an amino acid or an amino acid derivative. The invention further relates to a method for producing a dental filling material by providing a dental filling material mixture and subsequently hardening the mixture, and to the filling material that can be obtained by said method. The invention also relates to a kit for preparing a dental filling material mixture in which the components (a) and (b) are present separately from each other.

Abstract:
The present invention provides a particle comprising at least one aliphatic polymer having anti-microbially active quaternary ammonium groups chemically bound thereto. The particle of the invention may be used to inhibit populations of microorganisms and biofilms. Also provided are methods for the preparation of such particles and uses thereof for the inhibition of microorganisms.
Abstract:
Methods and solutions are provided for removal of the smear layer on prepared tooth and bone surfaces, especially in endodontic environments.
Abstract:
Curable compositions comprising degradable macromonomers having one or more terminal acrylate or methacrylate functionality, a curing composition, a filler composition comprising bioactive particles of bioactive glass, bioactive glass-ceramics, calcium phosphates, calcium appetites, or mixtures thereof and optionally one or more polymerizable acrylate or methacrylate comonomers. Degradable macromonomers are manufactured from cyclic monomers with compounds having acrylate or methacrylate functionality. Depending on their use, the degradable macromonomer compositions further comprise one or more organic or inorganic fillers, including a calcium-based compound and/or a radiopacity-imparting agent. The compositions are particularly suitable for root canal sealants, implants, bone cements, and pulp capping materials.
Abstract:
The present invention is directed to a method for anesthetizing teeth which does not require an injection into the gum in order to anesthetize a tooth (or teeth) which requires attention. The method comprises the step of applying a composition having a high concentration of potassium to a tooth requiring caries removal or manual manipulation thereof. The composition is adapted to anesthetize the tooth so that the tooth may be drilled or manually manipulated. It has been discovered that the potassium enters the dentinal tubules and odontoblastic fibrils and penetrates the pulpal tissues of the tooth for anesthetizing the tooth without having to inject anesthetics into the gum surrounding the tooth.
Abstract:
Disclosed are (1) nucleic acid and amino acid sequences for a novel morphogenic protein; (2) methods for producing and expressing the protein in a biologically active form; and (3) methods for utilizing the protein to induce tissue morphogenesis in a mammal, including methods for increasing a progenitor cell population in a mammal, methods for stimulating progenitor cells to differentiate and maintain their differentiated phenotype in vivo or in vitro, methods for inducing tissue-specific growth in vivo and methods for the replacement of diseased or damaged tissue in vivo.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a pharmaceutical composition comprising a siloxane according to general formula (I) wherein R means -C 1 -C 6 -alkyl; R 1 and R 2 each mean independently of one another -C 1 -C 6 -alkyl, or together form a (2n)-membered ring; and n is an integer of from 2 to 8; for use in combination with a pharmacologically active ingredient in the prophylaxis or treatment of a dental disorder.
