Abstract:
This disclosure provides, among other things, a filtration device comprising an open bottomed multi-well plate, a planar spacer that comprises apertures, and a porous capillary membrane. In the device, the planar spacer is sandwiched between the multi-well plate and the porous capillary membrane and the planar spacer is bonded to both the multi-well plate and the porous capillary membrane via an adhesive. Kits and methods of making the device are also provide.
Abstract:
Methods of producing substrates having selected active chemical regions by employing elements of the substrates in assisting the localization of active chemical groups in desired regions of the substrate. The methods may include optical, chemical and/or mechanical processes for the deposition, removal, activation and/or deactivation of chemical groups in selected regions of the substrate to provide selective active regions of the substrate.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a microarray having base cleavable, sulfonyl-containing linkers and a process to make the microarray. Oligonucleotides of any sequence may be synthesized on the microarray having the cleavable linker. The oligonucleotides may be cleaved and recovered as a pool of oligonucleotides having a three prime phosphate moiety. Specifically the microarray is an electrode containing microarray, and the oligonucleotides are electrochemically synthesized.
Abstract:
Provided herein are methods and systems for detecting biomolecular binding events using gigahertz or terahertz radiation. The methods and systems use low-energy spectroscopy to detect biomolecular binding events between molecules in an aqueous solution. The detected biomolecular binding events include, for example, nucleic acid hybridizations, antibody/antigen binding, and receptor/ligand binding.
Abstract:
An organic substance having a portion coordinate-bondable to a metallic ion is coordinate-bonded to a metallic ion. The organic substance is brought near a conductive support, and a reduction potential is applied to the conductive support. Thus, the organic substance is immobilized on the conductive support so as to fabricate an organic substance immobilizing chip.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to the field of devices for studying behaviour of motile living organisms in a multiplexed array format. The present invention provides devices comprising a solid porous support having first and second surfaces, said first surface comprising an agent and/or condition delineating behavioural and/or physical barriers for motile living organisms, and, where behavioural, said barriers adapted for sensing by said living organisms and hence forcing said living organisms to remain localized within a predefined region of said support. In addition the invention provides methods for screening test molecules or effector molecules which affect behaviour, motility and/or health of a motile living organism.
Abstract:
The invention relates to the preparation of a hydrogel surface useful in the formation and manipulation of arrays of molecules, particularly polynucleotides and to the chemical modification of these and other arrays. In particular, the invention relates to a method of preparing a hydrogel immobilised to a solid support comprising polymerising on the support a mixture of a first comonomer which is acrylamide, methacrylamide, hydroxyethyl methacrylate or N-vinyl pyrrolidinone and a second comonomer which is a functionalised acrylamide or acrylate.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to the fields of molecular biology, combinatorial chemistry and biochemistry. Particularly, the present invention describes apparatus and methods for the detection and isolation of binding partners and activity modulators for biomolecules. The apparatus described allows for expression, capture and analysis of one or more biomolecules in a single step.
Abstract:
The present invention provides articles of manufacture, e.g., arrays and devices, and methods for making and using them. The invention relates to techniques for immobilizing compositions, e.g., biological molecules, e.g., nucleic acids, to substrate surfaces for the purpose of conducting scientific investigations or routine testings. In particular, the invention provides articles of manufacture comprising covalently bound biological molecules on substrate surfaces that have been derivatized with a hydrophobic monolayer.
