Abstract:
Continuous molding apparatus includes a raw material supplying portion (30), a mixing portion (30), a supporting portion (100), and ram portions (20 & 50) for moving mixture through the apparatus. The molding portion (60) is formed by portions of the supporting frame (100) and mold faces (50) of ram portions, which actin concert to load, compress, transport, and deliver the molded product. Charge volume is determined by the controlled distance between front and rear ram portions (20) when in position under the raw material supplying portion. The molded material (90) receives the compression force along the positive and negative directions of the horizontal axis on its wear faces. The ability to use the apparatus on a continuous basis allows unlimited runs and permits the apparatus to be self-cleaning.
Abstract:
A building block (10) including at least one internal cavity (e.g. 12) is insulated by molding an insulating layer (24) from expandable thermoplastic polymer particles, such as beaded polystyrene, to one or more interior surfaces (26, 27, 28 or 29) of the cavity. The molding operation is carried out by positioning a male plug member (36) within the internal cavity of the building block with at least one peripheral surface of the plug member spaced from at least one interior surface of the cavity to provide a peripheral compartment into which the polymer particles are directed for molding the layer (24). Thereafter, steam, under pressure, is injected into the peripheral compartment to cause the particles to expand and fuse together into an efficient insulating layer that is expanded into close conformity with the interior surface(s) of the cavity. During the steam injecting operation a positive inwardly directed external force is applied to external surfaces of at least two opposed walls of the block to counteract internal forces generated by the steam. The invention also resides in the apparatus for carrying out the method of this invention, and in the building block formed in accordance with the method of this invention.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a block press and associated process, for dynamically forming a block mold, to produce a masonry block. In some embodiments, the block mold includes a plurality of mold elements, such as a lower impact plate, an upper impact plate, and a plurality of side plates, and can further include one or more block cores. In operation, one or more of the mold elements are moved to dynamically forming a block mold, which is then filled with product formula. The product formula is then compressed, to form a masonry block. One or more of the mold elements are then released, such as to release pressure on the formed masonry block, and to allow removal of the formed masonry block from the block press, wherein the formed masonry block can be moved to a curing area, and the block press can reform the block mold for subsequent production.

Abstract:
This invention relates to a method and apparatus for producing paving blocks (K) having ornamented surface, and the apparatus consists of a starting table (1), and a filling carriage (2) movable along a guide rail (3) towards and above a forming mould (4) comprising at least one mould cavity (4a) and connected to the starting table (1) is arranged; and in an interior space of the filling carriage (2) a first chamber for receiving base material (6a) and at least one second chamber (6b) for receiving ornamenting material are formed and separated by a septum (v), and a feeding device (7) for dispensing a mixture of ornamenting material is arranged in said second chamber ( 6b), characterized in that the feeding device (7) is formed by a metering plate (9,91,92,93) provided with holes (9a) and a metering member (10,101,102,103) fitted to and movable along the metering plate (9,91,92,93), and further provided by an actuator for moving the metering member (10,101,102,103).
Abstract:
A method of forming a reinforced building product from garbage, comprising the steps of sorting garbage, shredding plastics within the garbage, shredding fibers within the garbage, heating the shredded plastics, forming a slurry from the plastics and fibers, disposing the slurry within an extrusion cavity, extruding the fluid through a venturi, and allowing the extruded materials to cool. Garbage is separated into plastics, fibers, and other materials. Plastics are shredded to facilitate melting. Fibers are shredded to macroscopic lengths no greater than a maximum internal diameter of a venturi. The plastics are melted. The melted plastics are mixed with fibers and other material to form a slurry that is extruded from a cavity through a venturi, thereby causing significant alignment of the shredded fibers within the slurry in an outer region of the extruded slurry. Cooled, there is reinforced building material.
Abstract:
