Abstract:
The invention relates to a feed tank for use in a high-pressure system, said feed tank having a hollow space (3) for accommodating food items, a wall (1) and a temperature-control device (5). The invention further relates to a method for the simultaneous high-pressure and temperature treatment in a high-pressure tank.
Abstract:
A package for an article (1) comprises a pressurised outer bag (5) having gas-tight seals (7) at opposite ends, and an inner web for supporting the article within the outer bag. The web extends along the length of the outer bag and is secured to the outer bag only at the gas-tight seals (7). The web is maintained under sufficient tension by the pressure within the outer bag to suspend the article within the bag and to maintain a space between the article and the outer bag on all sides of the article.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a process effective for reducing the number of spores, especially psychrotrophic spores, in compositions. More specifically, a method is provided for heating a composition at a temperature, pressure and for a time effective for reducing the number of psychrotrophic spores in the composition by at least about 3 logs. In one important aspect, the invention relates to producing vacuum packed or modified atmosphere packed chilled food products.
Abstract:
A device (10) is provided for minimizing outgassing of a gas dissolved in a fluid at a predetermined partial pressure. The device includes a first pouch (12) containing the fluid (18) and a compressing means (14, 42, 42', 52, 52') for subjecting the first pouch to greater-than-ambient pressure. Methods are also provided for using the device to minimize outgassing.
Abstract:
A product shipping apparatus is disclosed comprising an inflatable enclosure to receive an item and be pressurised, a support structure to secure an item within the enclosure, and a pressurisation system to regulate an internal pressure of the enclosure to a predetermined pressure value after the enclosure has been sealed. A product shipping method and computer program product are also disclosed.
Abstract:
A package system is disclosed for dispensing controlled amounts of a chemical agent. The package system includes an outer package that is generally gas and liquid impermeable. The outer package contains an inner package made from a degradable material, such as a material that is water degradable. The inner package contains a measured amount of a chemical agent. The chemical agent may be difficult to handle and may have corrosive properties, may be an oxidizer, or the like. The package system facilitates dispensing the chemical agent into a particular environment. In one embodiment, the package system is designed to hold a chemical agent for treating recreational water sources, such as swimming pools.
Abstract:
Described are refrigerator-stable, chemically-leavened dough compositions, packaged dough products, and methods for preparing the same, wherein the dough compositions can be packaged and stored in a pressurized package. Packages as described herein function differently, in that the described packages do not require a dough to expand within a container to seal the container from the interior. In addition, the described packages include a flexible container, optionally with a secondary (e.g., outer) container. The flexible container alone, or the flexible and optional secondary (outer) container together are designed to prevent excessive expansion (volume increase) of the dough within the container, during refrigerated storage; the packages is pressurized, but the volume of the package is well controlled.

Abstract:
There are provided methods of packaging and packages that prevent damage of the package contents while maintaining sterility and that limit the negative effects of sterilization on sensors such as enzyme sensors. A method of packaging an enzyme sensor includes providing an enzyme sensor such as a glucose oxidase sensor in a gas impermeable package comprising one or more of oxygen and water, removing a significant portion of the oxygen and water present in the package, and sealing the package. The resulting package comprises the enzyme sensor in an atmosphere that is substantially free of oxygen and water. The package can also include a pressure indicator that indicates when the package has exceeded a predetermined pressure.
