Abstract:
The present invention relates to a method of cleaving a β-O-4 bond to the corresponding C-H bond in a substrate, by use of a hydrogen donor and a metal catalyst in a solvent. Thereby it is possible to depolymerize a polymer having a repeating β-O-4 bond.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a new class of compound, α-decalones with a 2,3,8a-trimethyl substitution, which are valuable perfuming ingredients of the woody type. The present invention concerns also the use of said compounds in the perfumery industry as well as the compositions or articles containing said compounds.
Abstract:
A decahydronaphthalene derivative represented by general formula (I), a liquid-crystal composition containing the derivative; and a liquid-crystal element containing the composition. The decahydronaphthalene derivative, which is a novel compound, can be extremely easily produced even on an industrial scale as shown in Examples. When added to a base liquid crystal in a small amount, the derivative not only widens the nematic-phase temperature range but can improve various properties of the liquid-crystal material. The derivative has excellent compatibility with base liquid crystals currently in general use as nematic liquid crystals. Therefore, it is suitable for use in various liquid-crystal display elements required to operate in a wide temperature range and is extremely useful as a material for liquid crystals.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a new class of compounds, α-decalones or decalols with a 6,7,8a-trimethyl substitution, and their use in perfumery to confer odor notes of the citrus (e.g. grapefruit) type.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to β-decalone derivatives (I) svhich can impart useful odor notes of the pheromone/costus type. The present invention doricerns the use of said compounds in the perfumery industry as well as the compositions or articles containing said compounds. (I) in the form of any one of its isomers or of a mixture thereof, and wherein the dotted lines indicate the presence of an optionally double bond, R 1 represents a methyl group or a hydrogen atom, a represents 0 or 1 and R 2 represents a hydrogen atom or a C 1 -C 3 alkyl group.

Abstract:

Abstract:
Azadecalins and decalins with protective substitutions intended to confer increased resistance to 7alpha-hydroxylase while retaining squalene oxide cyclase inhibitory activity are useful as inhibitors of cholesterol synthesis and hence may be used in pharmaceuticals for regulating cholesterol levels in a mammal.
