Abstract:
A decahydronaphthalene derivative represented by general formula (I), a liquid-crystal composition containing the derivative; and a liquid-crystal element containing the composition. The decahydronaphthalene derivative, which is a novel compound, can be extremely easily produced even on an industrial scale as shown in Examples. When added to a base liquid crystal in a small amount, the derivative not only widens the nematic-phase temperature range but can improve various properties of the liquid-crystal material. The derivative has excellent compatibility with base liquid crystals currently in general use as nematic liquid crystals. Therefore, it is suitable for use in various liquid-crystal display elements required to operate in a wide temperature range and is extremely useful as a material for liquid crystals.
Abstract:
The invention concerns quaternary ammonium compounds whereof the nitrogen bears a fluorine atom. Said ammonium compounds have an asymmetric carbon atom which is spaced from the ammonium function by not more than five members. The invention is useful for enantioselective electrophilic fluorination of various substrates.

Abstract:
Antitumor compositions, and a method for inhibiting, remitting or controlling the growth of tumors or tumor cells utilizing antitumor compositions. More particularly, the antitumor compositions comprise, as active ingredient, an antitumor effective amount of halogenated chamigrenes extracted and derived from red alga and sea hares which diet upon red alga.
Abstract:
Disclosed herein are embodiments of a bi-functionalized dicyclopentadiene monomer and polymer embodiments formed therefrom. The monomer embodiments exhibit tunability and can be used to form thermally stable homopolymers, copolymers, and/or crosslinked polymers.
Abstract:
A process of forming compounds of formula (I) comprising the steps of addition of an amino compound H 2 NR to a compound of formula (II) followed by cyclization, isomerization and hydrolysis.
Abstract:
The present invention provides organic compounds which are capable of releasing carbon monoxide under physiological conditions or pH trigger, and to the use of such compounds for conditioning a cell, tissue or organ, for example, to protect against ischaemic injury during a transplant event.
Abstract:
The present invention relates generally to methods of synthesis of diterpene heterocylic compounds. More particularly, the present invention relates to efficient methods of synthesis of ingenol (Formula (21), CAS 30220-46-3), from a compound of formula (1). The present invention also provides for various advantageous intermediates along the synthetic route of ingenol. Efficient synthesis of ingenol is important in the design and synthesis of related analogues, such as ingenol-3-angelate.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a process for the preparation of 3-difluoromethyl-1-methyl-1H-pyrazole-4-carboxylic acid (9-dichloromethylene-1,2,3,4-tetrahydro-1,4-methano-naphthalen-5-yl)-amide.
